Title: Recording AH using MSI Afterburner
Post by: Drano on December 05, 2012, 09:15:48 PM
Pretty sure I've asked this here before but I just spent some more time messing with it and keep hitting the same problem and thought maybe someone here has also. Using AB's video capture I can record video with sound in high quality when in AHFilm. I can set up a shot, go to full screen, hit play, toggle AB to record, stop the recording, it makes the file and saves it OK. I open the file, checking with different players and it's just fine. So here's the mystery. If I try to record AH live--not a film--I get the sound just fine but all I get for video is a blank white screen. Any ideas why this might be happening? Not getting why it would work in one mode and not the other considering the PC makes use of the game engine for both insofar as the video is concerned. Gotta be a setting somewhere? But it works in film mode? :headscratch:

Not sure I should have posted this in the films section but it does have to do with software.

Thanks

Most likely AH tries to hide it's live video from DX apis to prevent regular aimbots from working. Just a guess. I'm not sure if it's even possible but that would explain it.

Well it apparently works with FRAPS. I asked Vudu what he used to make his videos and that's what he uses and his are live action in-game. I was just wondering if anyone else was using AB for making video live and if that's a thing with the program or is it just me. It's just me with a lot of other things so why not this too LOL.

Not familiar with Afterburner but with FRAPS on Windows 7 (or Vista) the program must be set to monitor the Aero desktop. You might look for a similar setting.
