Cool article.
While touring with the Collings bombers I met a B-24 pilot whos family had bought him a sponsorship on the B-24. I took the family flying and let him fly the B-24, his first time flying one since being shot down over Europe. He was wearing a B-10 jacket (cloth A-2 style jacket with fur collar). It was the very jacket he was wearing when he bailed out of his stricken B-24 and it still had the tear on the back where it snagged on the hatch on the way out!!!! He also had the wooden spoon and fork he carved and used in the POW camp. It was one of my favorite days flying the B-24.

I bet he took to flying your 24 like a duck to water. :aok Did you take the chance to ask him about things? Like what you could get away with flying the 24 that you probably wouldn't think of and/or do?

No, he was kind of rusty. :D Most of those guys never flew again after the war, flying the airplanes was just part of the job.
It was great seeing the looks on his childrens and grandchildrens faces as they came forward and got to see him flying the B-24. There were a lot of "sweaty eyeballs" on the airplane that day.
