     Seems like every WW2 bird I see come out of fresh water is missing the ammo storage covers.  Wonder what material they made
them out of?

i wonder that too, maybe they crash the fall off from impact...  :confused:

I don't know but a lot of the aircraft that ended up in Lake Michigan are combat veterans. Doesn't matter much though. Any FM2 is absolutely amazing particularly when they ended up in fresh water.

     Problem with the Lake Michigan birds is that 99.9% are Navy and the US Navy doesn't like to give them up.
