You bastiges. Very well organized buttkicking of the rooks, with a reset at about 11:30 CST. Goes to show what organization on a grand scale can do.

Bah... Being Bish is in the blood. We have no control over it. In the immortal words of Ken Kesey, you're either on the bus, or yer a dweeb. Well... something like that. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

On behalf of my fellow bishes.. the guys that did it... thanks Hblair! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) A special thanks to Funked and the 308 SQ, the Polish Fighting Team.. a group of pro's that worked their butts off with those JABO typhies all evening. The JABO run on HQ was truly a pisser. <S!>
The squad leaders came together on RW for a quick breif at 8:30 and they set about the tasks.. never seen so many missions on the planner at one time before.
Was just plain a hoot.. and a damn good fight was put up by the rooks; make no mistake...
Many missions.. many jobs done.. all helped. Was something to see... Lordy. What a night.
Gonna go get drunk now..
Thanks again.. all of you; rooks; knits.. and of course; the Bish. <S!>

That was fun.
I loved Hangtime on ch1: "Rooks surrender 37 now or suffer defeat in detail!" or something to that effect. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
Yup - was really a duel effort. Cita knocking out the Rook infrastructure,
Hangtime setting up the crucial blows to the Rook home island, during which Cita organized clearing out Rooks in the North, and finally all meeting up at 35 for the knock-out punch on 37.
This was one of those memorable nights, for sure.
And sure, we all had a hand in it. But if it weren't for these two guys taking the reigns it would never have happened. It was a freaking 4 hours of BLITZKREIG in there!
Classic night. <S> and THANK YOU HANG AND CITA!

If we knights would have taken one more bish base; we would have won. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) It certainly was a fun "knight" to be a knight.

Important, 308 did _NOT_ get any perkpoints for the reset, we were not 12 hours with bishops yet. Although if handed the perks over, we'd have taken them. Wonder now, funked, does that make us Ninjas for hire to the side paying most perkpoints ;-) ?
-
And yes, famous quotes from Funked's clearly communicated leadership that stuck this night:
======
XX: Funked, what's the orders ?
Funked: I don't give orders
XX: Could you make a suggestion then ?
======
XX: Funked, what's the targets ?
Funked: Don't bother me, I have a flu ...

Funked: Tiffies, just go in and raise hell

hblair,
You can't expect everybody to want to play the land-game. When you start beating on one side, I expect folks to start logging. At a certain point I would log too. I like flying my Jug and I'll do intercepts of raids and such, that's fun. But once it gets to a certain point where I either can't get enough gas or enough clear space to climb safely before I fight, I'm not interested. Some folks love to organize, and some don't. Once the offense has organized, the defense must or be destroyed. For those that don't like to play that way, they'll just log or head to the TA to furball or whatever. That's fine IMHO, and to be expected.
Some folks will love running defense and fighting greatly outnumbered, and some won't. With all due respect, I don't think you should be looking down on others simply because they don't enjoy playing the game that way. If you think the results would be different if the places were reversed, I think you are mistaken. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Well I had fun intercepting a couple of raids. After Cit smacked my Jug down, real life intervened and I didn't get back into the arena as I had hoped. Glad to see you guys had fun. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I logged on... there was 80 + bish and 60 knights.
There were 44 rooks.
The dar showed no conflict at all between the bish and knights.
Then the dar went out.
If you want to have a gang bang go for it. There was no skill involved. There was no herosim. It was just sheer brute gangbanging. And Pyro gives you all 60 perk points for it...LOL. what a joke. The only real effect of the perk point system so far is to encourage this. Hey you guys could do this every night...wow what an excellent game that would be...Imagine how great you would look.
Sorry I gota disagree with ya Hblair. Your a very good sport and all but there was no skill here beyond the ability to find the bases on the map.
60 points for every dweeb involved. Plus lots of vulch kills. What a way to wreck the game.
But how can you come on here and pat your selves on the back. disgusting.

Great offensive effort Hangtime.
Great coat-tail riding Knights.
All we need now is an HA to use the tactics in.
Aces High is a kickass game in the main arena.
I sure hope that at some point it becomes a WWII online flightsim.

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?
-
Pongo, you're wrong. The Knights were reduced enough to give the win to the Bish and that is all. The objective was to reset the board and take the perk points.
IMHO, the Bish were organized well enough to reduce the Knits even further, but that was not the objective.
Well done Cit and Hang.

A true Bish tactic (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
Sorry Pongo...but you are wrong there. We had a close count on base numbers right before the reset. There was even discussion about hitting the Knits one more time to make sure we had the most bases before we forced the reset. So there was fighting between all 3 sides last night. I am sure the Knits appreciate your claim that they just laid back and let us Bishes overrun the Rooks so that we could get the reset. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) In fact, if I remember correctly, there were some Knits over 37 last night trying to stop us from taking it down and getting the reset.

Rgr hblair.... I am humour impaired a bit today due to being informed I must work overtime all weekend. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
IMHO, these strikes are only REALLY fun in a scenario or other organized event where there is also organized resistance. Otherwise it just ammounts to ganging up and steamrolling the weakest opposition. The best way to avoid that issue is to leave the target of your mission until the last minute, and then be sure to target the strongest enemy, and not the weakest. For the ideal challenge, you want the side the strike force is on to be the numerically weakest and use the organization to compensate, but that won't likely happen just by the nature of the organized missions.
Some of this will possibly be affected in the future by perk points. Pyro mentioned a possible perk multiplier based on the numbers country to country so that the outnumbered side gets more perk points the more outnumbered they get. I think that is a good idea, and I hope to see it implemented.
All that said, <S> to Citabria, Hangtime, and the Bish crew for the strikes last night.

EVERYONE HAS A TURN IN THE BUCKET!
Our turn (Knights) was the sweetest, down to the Coffin Corner Island for 5 straight days, then one morning, down to 2 airfields, 12 hours later and some heroic battling, Knights come back to get AH first Perk Point Reset from the dregs of hell! WTG KNIGHTS!

The numbers didn't get really lopsided until we blacked out the Rooks radar for 2 hours. Then the rooks began switching sides and/or logging off.

Just a reminder to everyone before they let this go to their head, Rooks have been typically the smallest country this entire tour. Two of the larger squads that flew Rook last tour went Bishop and unfortunately we didnt make up any of those numbers with other squads rotating in.
Its been common regardless of whether we have dar or not to be the smallest country. LOL....lets see what happen to Bish when they are being hit by two countries, each of which has over twice their numbers (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

If I understand you correctly, the only way to do this is to fight a mult-front war, widdling down BOTH countries, only to decide at the last minute which country your gonna force the reset on.
A bit unrealistic, no?
I think people are a bit confused about what happened last night. It wasn't a gang bang, nor was it about some kind of heroic uphill battle. Creating a "challenge" for ourselves would be, strategically, foolish - no? The goal from the outset was simply to go into the MA as a country, pull together all of the pilots and focus as group to "win the war".
Pretty-much every single Bish pilot was focused on that one thing, practically all of the buffer chatter was focused on that one thing, and the missions were designed with that one goal in mind.
This was unprecedented, really. Or at least I've never seen anything like it. Resets usually just evolve from conditions where a reset eventually becomes possible, or even likely.
This one was *forced* from the word go.
All countries started on equall footing (numbers were even at the beginning, untill as hblair said, the going got tuff)....and just 4 hours later it was over.
I wouldn't worry about seeing this kind of thing too often... Just as some people worry about not seeing this type of thing *enough*. It was a just night that was very...uhm... neat.

SOB, I do believe the rooks saw that thread, but they were misled by a clever misdirection comment from Hangtime:
Due to unforeseen events......the combined ops are postponed until further notice.....Come to think of it, we probably won't do combined ops....just too much to think about.....ok new orders..
All Bish fly to A1 and furball there and do not leave that grid. It is tactically and strategically important that we hold A1 at ALL costs!!
That is all
It seems the entire Rook force amassed at A1 in preparation for an attack that never really materialized. When they realized their mistake, they logged off to watch "who wants to be a millionare".

LOL DJ! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) That Hangime can be one tricky bastard!
Anarky, you're making it sound as though this was a sure thing to start off with. Every country here has loads of talented pilots(yes, even the K'niggits & Rookies (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) ). If the circumstances had been a little different, our initial raids could have been beaten into oblivion - on the B17 raid I participated in, there was heavy Rook fighter resistance that was beaten off by our escort (WTG escorts...especially Kappa who saved my out of ammo butt!).
Massive raids like this are hard to defend against, and that's exactly why they are used. One of the only goals in the MA is to win the war or shut down someone's radar(which is a good first step toward winning the war). Fair doesn't enter into it...there are rules set forth in the game that you have to follow, and as long as you do that anything else is fair game, particularly if it puts your enemy at a disadvantage.
SOB
BTW...If you don't like being called a whiney turd, I can instead use one of the many names I call my own squaddies on RW (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

That HQ raid really was something.
By coincidence Camo had just gathered 8 rooks I think and we were about to launch an attack on Knight A28 since the rest of the rooks were fighting the bish.
Just as we were planning what planes to take we saw the sector bar jump from zero to full in a second. We knew a HQ raid was forming, and we took off in 3 109G2/G6, 1 p51, 3 205's and a typhi (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
The sector bar was staying at A28 but now also filling sector north of it. We actually arrived at A28 before we spotted the enemy.
Several lower (at about 15K-20K I think) P51's with a few offsprings (190, spit, and N1K)
We engaged and I saw the a few of them go down. After we had fought with them we suddenly saw a dark cloud forming to the north. It turned out to be about 13 B17's in formation at 25K. I made a little attack and managed to lightly damage (fuel) one of the bombers before I was driven off by the escorts. The fight with these ended at the deck where I finally got one of them before the two others managed to kill me.
When upping again it was too late to gain alt and stop the raid for me.
We might have stopped it if more rooks had started climbing when the 8 of us started. We we continuosly calling out that a strike was coming, but not until they started showing up on P32's dot radar did a significant ammount scramble, too late.

Hehe Hang,
Here I tried to fool the bish's and....well the history was written!
I wish I could have been on last night to witness the organization.
Things very rarely happen like this. And it probably won't happen like this again for a while now, but, boy when it does, it simply kicks arse for both sides of the fight!!
WTG Bish's on the organization, sometimes the planets align!
Now, having said that, the Bish High Command has just sent out an important message:
To:All brave (cough) Bish Comrades
From: Generalissimo Commandante Big Kahuna Hangtime
Re: New Strategic and Tactical Orders
Brave (cough) Comrades in the struggle, last nights missions were a fluke and totatlly out of character for our brave (cough) bish forces. I witnessed gross attention to detail and organization, which I do NOT wish to see repeated.
The High Command has become dizzy with all of this planning and thinking, and quite frankly, it gave us all a headache, and we don't like that.
So, going forward, it is imperative that we return to our old, comfortable, disorganized ways, and get back to mindless furballing on the big center island. Do NOT stray from that airspace......ever!!
Signed,
Grand Poopa Hangtime
