Title: Lesser known Commands and game features.
Post by: MK-84 on December 14, 2012, 05:54:09 PM
Just like the title reads, what do you all know for game commands and features that you suspect very few people are aware of?

For example I only know a very few dot commands.

And to start I believe that a CV group accelerates when turning(?)

For dot commands, type ".help" in the radio and a list of all the commands will be shown.

Shift right click on a field on the clipboard map and it brings up that field status.

And using shift \  will open the message window tuned to your present vox channel to type on.

and it does accelerate during a turn to 70 mph if I remember.

If the cv is turned, the ships on the outside of the turn accelerate to maintain formation.

The CV only accelerates during a turn to 70mph when I am trying to bomb it. The other rule is that it also has the best gunner aboard from that country when I am  trying to bomb it. Further, the puffy ack is multiplied times 2 when I am trying to bomb it.  :noid

The downtime command, very helpful if capturing bases is your thing:

.squelch 6 = no more system kill messages

.squelch 1 = no more salutes

makes reading country channel easier.

.unsquelch 6 and .unsquelch 1 to be able to view them.

makes reading country channel easier.

With the new text window system, there is a much more convenient way to do it:
Set up one window as CH 2 Country only, while displaying anything else on one (or more) seperate window(s). No more squelchin and unsquelching - simply switch between the text windows, and you can always scroll back in them if ya think you missed something important.

I'm such an old dog.  When the new radio setup arrived, I inadvertently did something that took me some time to set right.  Haven't piddled with it again.

I'll have to get home to dig up the actual file name and location,  but its settup/settings are saved to a small file within the game's folders, much like your joystick.  Point being, if you fear making changes to your chat will make it a mess or nightmare to revert back - not so if you locate and save a copy of this file (so i you do make a mess, simpley overwrite it with the old/known-good one).

If you do like simple/junk-free text/chat windows though, I would encourage you to explore the tabs and make a couple new tabs with unique filters too.  Eventualy, after enough trial n error (or luck), you'll be a lot happier.

GVs,   Map Pointing at aSpawn?

The other night at tank town A guy was able to spawn with his gun consistenly pointed to our "hide".   Someone tried to explain how he "Map Pointed" before he spawned.
Is there such a thing as"Map Pointing" and how do you do it?

Thanks

When you spawn a GV, it spawns at the end of the arrow (at any of 3 or 4 actual points in that area) that marks the spawn point...and it is facing the direction of that arrow (your back is towards the base you spawned from). There is a built-in delay between when you spawn and when everyone else in the area can see and hear you. So, during that delay you can be turning your turret towards where you think the bad guys are...and viola, you spawn in pointing right at them.

Ah So.  Learn something everyday.

For dot commands, type ".help" in the radio and a list of all the commands will be shown.
A welcome addition would be the object names to go with the  ".DT" command---gaining popularity (amb=ammo....vhh=vh....fth= fighter hangar...etc)

if the .DT values could be read via the interface maybe people would use them more
