Bottom line unless this is fixed there is no reason to fly FSO. 1K below the bombers after killing a ki 61 600yrd away. A bomber gunner took direct aim at me and pulled the trigger.
:bhead Unless this person is punished there may or may not be reprisals in future FSO's. This may infact be the end of FSO. I will never fly near a bomber I don't entend to kill ever again. Flying for 50 min is no fun to have ended because someone is bored and decides to have some fun at aonthers expense.
-
Yes I can spell, just not when angry. I am sure nothing will ever be done about this, but look out in the near future whomever pulled the trigger. There may be more unfortunate accidents that follow.
-
maybe you should've pm'd one of the CM guys? putting stuff like this out in public never ends well.
ps--intentional
-
Perhaps you should deal with this the proper way, like a man instead of a child. It will not be the end of FSO, just perhaps the end of FSO for you since you are threatening to kill friendlies in the future.
-
If u have film please let me know. I will look at it. That said sometimes it might seem intentional when its not. Send the clip to glbold@telus.net if u have it. Not the whole mission, just the incident in Q. Thx.
-
Yes. Cooler heads may prevail. I don't have film and dont expect too. I was D600-1k and breaking away. I'm sure it was on purpose, and suspect Wiley, based on the time stamp of logs, but its not conlucisve as he could have hit the Ki as it went through the formation. There isn't anyway short of a film surfacing to prove it.
It sucks waiting to fly all week then 50min get wacked (on purpose) by a moron.
-
Valkyrie, what is your in-game name? I don't see "Valkyrie" anywhere in the logs.
-
Vlkyrie1
-
Yes it should have been handled privately. But I was pissed. No reason a buff should be shooting at a ki Missing a wing diving away in a death spiral and hit me instead climbing up 30-45 nose away from the doomed aircraft. Nosey followed me all the way in and no one was around me.
-
Its pretty intense in a rear gunner position under attack by a lot of fighters. I really feel its likely a case of jittery gunners blazing away rather than anything deliberate? It does suck to be hit...I get that. Without film I can't do anything in a case like this unless it was a really clear case like multiple witnesses saying somebody got strafed on the runway by a friendly a/c or something really obvious. A buff formation under attack with escorts there as well is a dogs breakfast to sort out.
-
The kiddie pool has lifeguards.
FSO does not.
Morons everywhere in life...give em a cartoon gun...look out.
Go on range vox and let folks know you are attacking/ clear - nmy down/etc...
Cartoon bullits hurt. Don't get hit.

The problem was we were in front. I get the accident if we were behind. with buffs firing to the rear. But I was in front and the only person who had a clean shot was a buff. I was climbing and gave a buff a great profile view. Its very hard not to judge that being done onpurpose. No other bad guys were in the area. Like I said there won't be a way to prove it without film, and I don't have it or antipate having it. In all the years of FSO this has never happened to me. Sure someone get a tail shot or a buff gets a hit as you follow a fighter in. But on the way out with better than 600 -1k separation. Very hard to believe.
-
In fact if we can delete the thread that might not be a bad idea, as the alligations can't be proven.
-
Friendly fire incidents happen. It really sux but they happen. They happened in real life, and they happen in FSO. Just Be glad this is FSO, in RL you wouldn't get the opportunity to whine about it.
I really doubt it was intentional the guy just wanted to get a kill just like everyone else that's out there. He probably never even saw you.
The real problem here is you throwing the f bomb out over range, and I do have that on film.
Next time why don't you act like an adult and except what happened like an adult. After looking at the logs I can't even see a friendly getting an assist on you let alone a kill.
-
I have lost so much respect for so many people through this I have lost count. Why don't you go report that vox chat and get my vox muted for a month or my subscription canceled because tonight I don't really care. I hope you got the good ones too because I was really pissed at that moment. You know I think I got 13 or 14 of them. Depends on if you got the squad channel too. Maybe if we keep bleeding members on FSO nights you might get HiTech to release the AI airplanes for you to play with.
-
I was going threw logs...lots of accounts of friendly fire, not that that is what happend to you,but I'm just saying.
And don't let games make you mad.
:salute

Valk, you're not the first person to get upset over an incendent during an FSO frame and you won't be the last. Having to wait a week to fly a frame and having it cut short only to find yourself having to wait another week is something that all of us go through. I certainly understand your frustration, and I don't believe for one minute you would seriously go hunting friendlies. Its just the frustration talking. The bad FSO frames somehow make the good ones that much sweeter when they happen. Get a good night's sleep regroup and everything will be in better focus tomorrow.

valkryie.......send the film clip of this incident to any of the cm's. squire would be first choice, but any of us will make sure a film clip gets to him.

So, yeah, based on the timing of events last night, it was probably me. Sorry if I hit you, your reaction makes me less sorry.
Here's how I saw it. Ki61 coming in, 600 yards out. 2 friendlies on him looked to be about 4-500 yards behind him. The KI was pulling up into me. I had a pretty clear angle on him from my view, what I believe might have happened is I was zoomed in on my gunsight and the angle got low without me noticing it, putting a steeper angle on my bullet stream than I thought. What I thought I had was 2 friendlies pulling up behind a KI that was getting ready to fire.
In any case, sorry it happened, it was an honest mistake.
Wiley.

Wiley.
No worries Wiley, one of my squaddies got assest on two of my other squaddies,it happens. You just got the player that was on meltdown.
-
Not to mention we had to drones that were firing at the same time probably. I know how you feel friendly fire cost me two B29s. Plus I always thought rule of thumb was " Don't saddle up on a buff's 6"
Me being the CO and BG lead I can tell you there was NO INTENTIONAL friendly fire. Since Wiley was at my 2 oc position when this happend.
VMF-222 Doesn't play like that. If any other questions are needing to be asked you can direct them to me.

Couple of years ago I killed my entire squad sitting OTR waiting to launch for FSO after "fields open" was called...... I got there last minute and didnt hear CO say we were going slick, My Jug (i think) had bombs and rockets on it. Dumped them while sitting OTR........Good news was i got the most kills out of every Allied pilot that frame......bad news was to this day Tigg3r and my other Blind Bat brethren wont let me live it down :lol :D
-
would it make anyone feel better if i told you all that i shot cutt last night? and viper61 back in the last bob set\up? didn't kill em though........

I am curious what am I suppose to think.
I followed a Ki through the bomber stream and was not hit. I could understand if I was. What I don't understand is that after I was through to the bombers low 12:00 1k or more away with the bad guy beyond me going down with a wing missing I am hit as I pull up into the bomber stream. A squaddie calls out, " It must have been a bomber because no one was near you.". Pulling up away 30-40 degrees nose the other way from the downed Ki. What would you think? Really? A fighter going down you coming up giving a perfect planform target to your friendly buffs 6-800 yrds behind. I would like an explanation. I didn't accuse Wiley, I just said I suspected based on the log time stamp.
Supposedly there are some films of this floating around. So maybe we can get an answer. I really don't understand the absolute vitriol that has been spewed here on the fourms.
-
The only thing I can think of is your FE or his FE had a lag of some sort. We were actually talking about how last frame a lot of people's frame rates dropped and was a little choppy near the buffs when we engaged the Ki's
-
That might explain it. But that would have been almost a 20 sec lag. I was rock solid on brand new gear. In fact it was my first time in a stream with no jumping. Everything looked perfect on my end. However that might explain it as the shooters relative positions are the ones used. Any way I assumed it was intentional as the buffs would have had a near perfect shot yet long range for 50's ie large planform shotm closing range.
I wouldn't have thought a bomber would take a wing off 1K+ no ping. It was a hell of a shot from my perspective. I have been hit by friendly buffs before. But never like that.
-
To me you looked closer, and don't forget the tail also has a single 20mm with the .50's
<{S}>
-
I thought I was out in front and the hit came from a nose gun.
-
Could of been but from my FE you looked like on his his 6 that's why I sad "Don't saddle up on a buffs 6"
Regardless of where you were I will say sorry that it happend and I reiterate there was no intentional friendly fire.
I have been flying with 85% of my guys for a long time between this sim and another sim and if one of my guys did it they will say yup I did it.

In all the years of FSO this has never happened to me.
You have been around longer than most. Would be a shame to toss the baby out with the bath water.
Sometimes, it is best to focus on one part of the reply and call it good.
In any case, sorry it happened, it was an honest mistake.
-
If you were out front, I haven't got a clue. The only time I think I pulled the trigger last night was when that KI was behind me. Any other time I've pinged/been pinged by a friendly, I've gotten an assist, or they have. I would expect it would've shown up in the log as an assist if I'd pinged you.
*shrug*
Wiley.
-
I flew all the way to the target. Puffy ack killed me at 30K in one hit. Meh. But that's what you get if you want realism. For those who don't want realism, Mario Kart is a lot of fun.
-
Looking through the RAW CM Logs, I can't find where you were damaged or shot down by anyone.
12-15-12 00:22:28,Vlkyrie1,End Flight,Captured, ,USMC/71Sqn
No one recorded any damage on you from what I can tell. Perhaps you got nailed by Puffy?
-
yep sounds like puffy.
