Title: Disco reconnect
Post by: Wiley on December 18, 2012, 10:52:01 AM
Is the disco reconnect feature theoretically turned on in FSO?  I'm curious because in FR1 I discoed, came back in panic time (no more than 2 minutes from boot to being back in tower) and it didn't throw me back in my plane.

If I'd been killed in between (There were enemy within icon range at the time which is why I was so excited to get back in, but they were moving away) would I have shown as being killed?  The log showed I vanished into the ether or whatever the disco message is.

Just curious, I really hope the feature is supposed to be on and it was an anomaly, because there's nothing that ruins FSO more than a disco on the way to the fight.

This feature does not work the same in FSO as it does in the Mains. Because we manually close fields to not allow flight after a certain time, it would seem that the disco reconnect feature can't put you back in the air.

This should be a wish, I also agree that it should.

Potentially, an If/then statement by HTC should allow them past the fields closed issue.

That would be a really worthwhile addition.  IMO the single best use (practically the only worthwhile reason) for the reconnect feature is FSO.

They are aware of the situation with reconnect, still awaiting word.

It worked in frame 3 of the November FSO.  My wing man discoed and his plane flew in circles until he came back.

In November's FSO I dscoed and returned to flight.  I returned near my squad, but out of their sight.

When did you disco? Before or after the fields closed? We disable flight after the first 15 minutes.

My squaddie discoed well after T+60 and still returned to flight.

Interesting. I'd like to know what happens this Friday for Frame 3...maybe it's been fixed.

iirc it was before the fields closed.

Just for information, I discoed after probably about half an hour or so, fields would've been closed, and it was in FR1.

In relation to this, I noticed the discos in our squad were coming up "Shot down by ." and added up as a death rather than a disco or "disappeared without a trace".
