1 50cal bullet can essentially kill any unarmored vehicle if it hits the right place. 1 50cal gun can chew up any unarmored vehicle in seconds. P47's have EIGHT 50cal guns. Shouldn't they be able to make short work of the road convoy in AHII then? Whenever I go to shoot up the convoy I have to put a few hundred rounds into 1 truck to kill it. They should not be that tough should they?
The convoy's and roads got a nice new look in the latest update, but I think their damage modeling could still use a little adjusting.
Also, can we get some trains near the frontlines to shoot up too? :D

You have troubles to kill unarmed and totally predictable supply trucks?

One truck needs 67 .50 cal hits from an airplane.

Really? 67 rounds? I seem to just keep pumping rounds into them and they never seem to explode. I remember coming in on one truck that had survived the volley of rockets and just unloading on it, hit sprites all over the truck with very few hitting the dirt. I dove in with the ammo count at 1700/1700, and when I pulled the count was at about 1500-1550. It took a second run and another 200 rounds to finally kill it. Not sure if that was just a rare bug maybe, or if my aim is worse than I thought (though I swear I saw nothing but hits all over the truck).

One truck = 0.0781x1000lbs per arena settings. An AC .50 cal round does 1.17 lbs of damage vs objects (a .303 ~0.3lbs, a Hispano round 4lbs)

Seems I had another lapse of stupidity, I do that a lot lately.

The key is "hit in the right place". With any FMJ the round is going to travel straight through and unless it hits something worth while (critical engine parts, fuel tank, driver, etc), nothing is really going to become of the damage. It will literally be just a hole. However, switch that projectile over to an HE or frangible projectile and the story is altogether different because as soon as that projectile makes contact with the target then we have an area effect where a hit in the engine could kill the diver, a hit to the passenger seat could not kill the driver but disable the engine, or a hit to the cargo bed not do any other damage than to the rear axle PTO, etc, etc.
I actually take the position that it is too easy to kill convoy trucks, and M3's for that matter. Same goes for Wirblewinds, Ostwinds, M16's, and SdKfz 251's. I wish HTC would up their hardness factor about %25.

I was practicing with the m-4 Rocket launcher and knocked them all down in about 2 seconds LOL.
Give it a try. Wirble and Osty's take 'em down quick as well. If you are lined up right you can drop two or three with one HE round from a tank. You can take 'em down with a M -3' but they are moving too fast to get them all.
:salute

Range would affect this though wouldn't it?
-
No. Range is no factor in damaging power when shooting at objects in AH.

To be clear, objects in AH means things not controlled by players. Range does affect the damage/penetration against planes, tanks and boats.

Hmm. So when I fire that 20mm Hispano round from a Typhoon the closer I am the more damage to the ammo bunker??? :headscratch:
I was under the impression that only the FMJ rounds in AH were modeled with an inertia based damage slider (the faster the round the more damage it can do).

No. I can only repeat: Range is NO factor when shooting at objects. Against everything manned by a player, it is.

I always thought range was a factor except for cannon rounds. That's a surprise.
