Title: German 105s and 150s....
Post by: Eric19 on December 25, 2012, 08:17:55 PM
My wish is for 2 Flak platforms like our 88 just upgunned is all have a single 105 at each small to medium Airfield and a single 150 on each Large Airfield and some sort of sighting system for the 88 when you use it for gvs

I could be wrong about this, but weren't heavy flaks usually around strategic targets like cities?  A 128mm would have a really tough time
trying to track a low flying bomber or fighter attacking an airfield.  Be much more effective attacking a heavy bomber formation attacking a
factory or city.

I am also not sure if the 88mm flaks at an airbase would have the AP rounds to engage ground targets.  In real life, if tanks were getting
close enough for flaks to direct fire them most luftwaffe crews would be looking to get out of dodge

Flak 88s have AP loaded in them 250 rounds to be exact and they were also used to as an Anti-tank weapon

we just need to link 2-3 88s together and add the Land Mode to them maybe even HE rounds... I would pay an extra 5 cents/mo for that lol ;) xoxo HTC

The German 88s did have a ground target sight as part of it's TOE (Table of Equipment) Plus it turned much faster in the stationary flak mount than our 88 traverses. I have turned a US 3inch 50 that is pretty much a copy of the German guns and it turns much faster than our set up for the 88s. The Coast Guard still had the 3 inch 50 in the late 70s and may still have them.

We have a 88 as a memorial on a hilltop in the center of the city. Years ago it was unlocked so you could actually use the mechanism. I can verify that it turned MUCH faster than the 88 in game by manual crank.

The people complained when kids left the cannon pointing at their houses so now it's welded shut :/

It's a clear game play choise.

Perhaps the turning speed in game is limited to include dialing in the aim? But really for gameplay purposes it's probably to lessen its ability to down planes like a tanks main.
