Title: building a Spitfire MkVb in 1/48 scale. You decide the camo, and unit.
Post by: Fonzy on December 26, 2012, 12:39:28 PM
I wanna ask the communities help here.  As the title says.  I  building a tamayia spit 5b.  Let's let the community decide what plane I build.  Post pics and specific info for consideration.  This seems to be the best way to solve my problem of choosing a color scheme and insignia.  Any and all input would be appreciated.  FYI clipped wingtips are an option for this kit.  Will post my fave 5 for a final vote on the forums.  Thanks for your time!

Does your kit have the tropical filters or just the standard? These are going to limit your options more than the clipped wing tips.

That kit is a joy to build, Here's mine.

Standard spit 5 b, but I have some left over trip filters if that's the final decision ;).  Spit 5c is also an option

thats a beautiful job. How do you define the panel lines so well?

I am guessing he uses thinned enamel paint or a thinned acrylic wash.... that's what I do anyway....  capillary action will pull the thinned mixture along the panel line beautifully.

. That's a lot of cut glue, and filler work.  Is defiantly an idea for a future spit build.

Ohh I've always been a fan of this Spitfire Vc of No. 312 squadron. I can only find old photos of Mk. Vb's but either one would be good for you right?

Here's a Vc which is claimed to have been part of no. 312:
