Title: French Heavy Tank....
Post by: Eric19 on December 28, 2012, 02:22:30 PM
as the name suggests I am wish for a french heavy tank called the Char B1 bis it wouldn't be a very fast tank and wouldn't have a lot of armor but it does have a 47mm SA35 in the later models and a 47mm SA34 in the early ones. Its main armament was a 75mm howiter in the hull that could fire HE and APHE shells.

No flame needed.

If the French used their armor wisely and concentrated into gruppen, they could have held out much longer or possibly even halted the dash to the channel by Guderian.  At the time, they fielded the best tanks in the war.

I suppose if we add this tank we will also have to add the Panzer MK3 seeing as it was the main tank it faced at the battle of france for senario purposes basically

Two things:

First, I really wish people would research the German invasion of France in WWII and actually see why the French lost. It certainly was not because of cowardice, ineptness, or lack of professionalism.  It was the French government, NOT the French military that was the bane of the French people. If the French military would have been unleashed then the Germans would have had a much more difficult time.

I'm not sure if there is a French tank that would stand much of a chance in AH, remember what they have to offer is EW and while they would be fine in the EW server or in EW scenarios I don't see them getting used at all elsewhere. Either far too slow or far too under gunned.  Otherwise, yes, it would be nice to have France represented. With that in mind, I think the D520 would be the best place to start.  :aok

I wonder if the 47mm could be dweebed as an anti air gun  :)

that said yes the B1 is very slow, but the opposing panzers weren't all that great either

I'd rather see the Somua S-35, personally.

The Maginot Line wasn't that much of a bad idea given the situation France was in pre-war.

It was also a tough nut to crack.

in itself the magino line was a very effective defense, but stopping at belgium thinking that the Germans would never go through a neutral country to attack france seems incredible 60 years later. When the attack occurred the Belgians were actually confident they could stop the germans  :lol And the French govt believed them

The Germans followed the first rule in Sun Tzu.

Translated into laymans English.

"When faced with a siege... GO AROUND"
