Title: The sun is too bright ...
Post by: lulu on December 29, 2012, 03:03:24 AM
Yes, it is.
Every time after playing I have problem on my eye.
Can you take, please, in serious consideration the possibility
to reduce the dimensions of the sun in AH ?
What would it happen if there will be a medical correlation between
eye's issues and the exposition to AH?
I'm on the point to start an analysis of this type, if the problem persist.
I think that more smaller dimensions would be a solutions.

Another solutions could be the possibility to set hour so that
who want that then can play with a sun down on the horizon

P.S.:

I don't want to duplicate Midway's post, just to point out my thoughts on the question because
I'm quite disappointed about how this problem seems took in poor consideration.
I think that a fully bright 17 " monitor  can inflict damages on eye if watched as we
do in AH.

i doubt it.

Unless he literally has his nose on his monitor.  But at that point, anything coming through the monitor will cause eye damage, be it bright or dull colors.

people work with lcd/led monitors at work all day, on mostly white backgrounds.

personally i think people having problems are fooling themselves. that white image i posted awhile back is actually just as bright as the sun in aces high. does it actually hurt?

Considering the white post box doesn't hurt your eyes I'm pretty sure it's an optical illusion. Since you see the washed out image in front of you which your brain thinks means it's bright, you actually think it's bright.

I will remember that in civil countries pc workers must do an health check periodically by law.

I wish that HiTech will try to reduce the dimension of the sun about 5 times smaller then now.
Or he will reduce the brighthness of the sun as we experience when some smoke is between the
sun and pilot view.

Seriously?   :huh

It is simply impossible for your monitor to be any brighter than when it displays a white page.  The millions of folks who read the New York Times online every single day would be screaming bloody murder if your suggestion were true.

I'll add to this in that I asked my optometrist about this very thing and I was told it's an old wives tale or urban legend. Infact I had him make me a pair of glasses just for viewing my monitor, they have a 16 to 18 inch focal length,so I must be that close to use them properly.

I solved the issue with simply getting a bigger monitor,I can read now but it hasnt helped my shooting at all.

The sun effect thing is only a placebo, once you realize that its just white pixels; your brain will stop telling you that it burns.

I tell myself that, but my brain must not be working right, cause it still hurts.

Also the reflection from the sun using a mirror to project it on the wall also shows significant brightness.   :frown:

When you immerse yourself in something too much/long; your brain slowly thinks its real.

I'd suggest a good mental workout before playing if things inside the game bother you to that point.

I just avoid the sun as much as possible.   Works so far. :)
