Poor Vincent Smith. The right guard was to block him on a trap but hes too fast. Good game tho glad Denard got the record.

Missed assignment.
No missed opportunity.
One hell of a hit.

Unfortunate but I give the sport only a few years before rules changes to prevent head injuries pretty much eliminate the sport. For starters, I predict someone in the govt will get enough traction on a bill to prevent people under 18 years old from playing contact football to at least open up the conversation, and then every kids league and public school will get nailed with lawsuits from every parent who's kids ever played football and now have behavioral issues or a learning disability or any other mental or physical problem. Then colleges will start to pull funding due to the public backlash.
It's a brutal sport, and no argument based on sportsmanship and character building will be able to compare to the mounting evidence that, as we pretty much knew already, repeated blows to the head causes permanent brain damage. Outcries from parents who say "my kid plays football because I done did it when I wuz dat age" will pretty much prove the argument in favor of banning contact football at public schools and raising insurance costs to private leagues beyond their ability to pay for them.
Lots of stuff that used to be "normal" is now either banned or simply not done anymore, because we now know how bad of an idea it is. Look at how MMA has replaced boxing as the most popular combative sport. That is in part to the fact that if you talk to an MMA fighter at the end of his career, he may have goofy looking ears but his brain is not nearly as severely damaged as a boxer with the same number of years fighting. That's because boxing gloves really cause more brain damage than they prevent and the lengthy boxing matches result in much more severe brain swelling than an MMA fighter losing from a single punch knockout. Boxers sound dumb because they suffer brain damage. MMA fighters sound like either aggressive jerks or kung-fu movie stars because that's how they've always been. Brain damage from a well regulated MMA fight is rare. Yea the fighters get bloody and look beat up after a while but that's all surface damage, or at worse a busted bone or popped joint. Ironically it is the protective gear that lets boxers and football players suffer repeated blows to the head and continue playing, which leads to the brain damage. While a bare-knuckle MMA fighter who takes more than a couple of pops to the head doesn't last long enough for his brain to suffer that kind of sustained and repeated damage.

:O that was one hell of a hit. he was in so fast the handoff had not been compleated. WOW
As a michigan fan watching this game all I could do was :O
But what about the hit and the aftermath of it in the game?
Was it helmet to helmet? What about excessive celebration? I thought a flag could have been thrown, but still WOW :O
The helmet can be used as a spear to inflict punishment on the opponent. running backs do it all the time, and blockers and tacklers do as well. Rules changes have tried to address the issue of concussions, including helmets being used as the lead device to hit an opponent in his head (helmet to helmet flag).
I offer a view of a more form tackle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHIAHaDWZuk The defender leads with his shoulders and the side of his helmet and delivers a punishing blow. The recipient of the hit was injured, but not in the head. This is how tackling should be taught and practiced by its players.
It is up to the officials to set a standard and enforce the rules. We can maintain the game for what it is, clean it up a little, and maybe we will have less devastating instances as a result. Nevertheless, the game is rough, and when a 6'6" 235lbs physical masterpiece gets a chance to show off, watch out :O

Boxers suffer far more brain damage than mma fighters.
I've done both.
That said, redskins are going to the Super Bowl.
