Eight Browning 303s? +1

No, that would be the "a" wing. He is asking for the wing that could take eight .303s, two 20mm and four .303s or four 20mm. We have the wrong version of the Spitfire Mk V for that though.

I'd rather have the 'a' wing then. Sorry Pipz :D

Shouldn't ever happen in AH and I have confidence in HTC that it will not.

did HTC ever changed a plane's options without completely remodeling it completely before?
I think they should, it would bring a lot of satisfaction to the players, without having to fully remodel a plane

Yes, the Ar234 had its 20mm tail guns added for example.
That said, the Spitfire Mk V is not eligible for that kind of change as it has the wrong engine for a 'c' wing and the wrong ailerons for an 'a' wing.

I thought this was a sneeky wish to get Levi's spitV back in the game. That thing was fun to furball with.

I'd like to capture this "wing" that the Rooks have been intercepting our bombers with all this time from orbit. :D
Okay... back on topic.

Wrong ailerons?

Wrong ailerons?
To the best of my knowledge all of the Spitfire Mk Vas had cloth ailerons like the Mk I and Mk II did, with the associated poor roll rates.

I thought they flew back to Supermarine in small numbers while in service to have them replaced. I think I read Dogsbody's Va had the conversion done.

Nope. As Nrshida mentioned, many Spit 2s operating at the same time as the Spit Vs had metal ailerons retrofitted. Same exact design, just metal covered. Va would have the same ailerons as the Vb and Vc.
I suppose in the ideal AH world you'd have the option to choose the wing, engine type appropriate for the Spit V version needed, full or clipped wings, and maybe Vokes filter.
Not worth it for the MA, but for events it would really help the cause in terms of immersion and historical accuracy. Imagine the whines in a MTO, PTO or CBI event when guys went up in tropicalized Spit V and had to deal with the performance hit from the drag created by that big Vokes filter :)
-
I would use my pull to have the Vokes replaced with an Aboukir filter. :)

when you say 'wing' do you mean left or right, or left AND right. because in the brit list
A wing B wing etc, ment only one side. like the A wing is 4 303s.
and isnt our spitV a 'C' wing. one 20 and 2 303s?

"a" wing is eight .303s.
"b" wing is two 20mm Hispano Mk Is with 60 rounds each and four .303s, later two 20mm Hispano Mk IIs with 120 rounds each and four .303s.
"c" wing is modular with the ability to take eight .303s or two 20mm Hispano Mk IIs with 120 rounds each and four .303s or four 20mm Hispano Mk IIs with 120 rounds each.
In actual use the "c" wing meant two 20mm Hispano Mk IIs with 120 rounds each and four .303s or just the two 20mm cannons. One squadron that did dedicated ground attack in Italy used four 20mm cannons and one individual Spitfire Mk VIII in the South Pacific used four 20mm cannons against Ki-46s.

A Wing was the 8 303s
B Wing was the early 2 20mm cannon and 4 303s. It had drum fed 20mm with only 60 rounds for each 20mm
C Wing was the Universal Wing as it in theory could hold 8 303, 2 20mm and 4 303 or 4 20mm. Before someone gets worked up, the 4 20mm set up was rarely used and not in the ETO due to gun heating issues. 2 20mm and 4 303 was the standard C Wing set up.
Later the E wing was introduced that had a 20mm cannon in the outboard gun bay and a 50 Cal. in the inboard bay.
The AH Spit V is a B wing Spit with 60 rounds per gun for the 20mm
The earlier AH Spit V had the armament of the C wing, but was modeled to look like a B wing Spit V so it had 120 rounds per 20mm.
The Spit IX, VIII and Seafire II have C Wings, while the Spitfire XVI and XIV have E Wings.
