If you are so unhappy with Aces High, why don't you switch to Warbirds 3.0? They have almost all the planes everyone has been whining about. Wait... that's right... by the time Warbirds 3.0 is released, Aces High will have added nearly every variant of every plane anyone would ever want to fly. But don't forget, Warbirds 3.0 has cool screenshots, films, and "paint your own plane" software available.
I for one have no complaints about how fast HTC makes planeset revisions. Keep up the good work guys!

Instead of having players make their own skins and making everyone download everyone else's skins, why not do something like HOMEWORLD did? Only take it a bit further.
Separate the skin of each plane into sections.
Tip of Wing
Center of Wing
Wing Root
Nose
Middle fuselage (aka, from behind engine to behind pilot seat)
Tail (behind pilot seat and covering the whole tail except the stabilizers and rudder)
Stabilizers
Rudder
Flaps
Engine (for buffs and multi-engined planes, where "nose" wont cover the engines)
Allow the player to set a color or preset texture on their plane. Say, I chose to paint my P-38 completely black except for the "Center of Wing", which I set as a black background with 2 white stripes (2 white stripes=preset texture) and for the nose, in which I choose a black background with a shark tooth preset texture.
This way, I THINK, players wont have to download textures or crap out their systems displaying them because AH will only x-mit a short "enemy plane has this texture scheme settings" packet which will make the game retrieve said settings from its own programing.
Also, give players the option in SETUP to display or not display player set camo settings if it bugs them.

Just because there happen to be no planes added in 1.06 that I am interested in doesn't mean that I don't like Aces High or that 1.07, 1.08 or 1.09 won't have some of the aircraft that I like.
I'm staying.

A post from iEN concerning the 'closed beta':
Requiring an active Warbirds or Dawn of Aces account WILL cut down on the "The paratroopers don't have sniper rifles! This sucks!" type feedback which we really don't need. A completely open beta too early would just generate too much feedback from Quake players about all the "missing" FPS elements, which of course shouldn't be there at all .

Or use AH's model and don't have open beta versions, just force-load it and then pump out 5 or 6 revisions real quick.
Interesting how they think that any comments from the flight sim community outside subscribers are automatically deemed "Quakers" and stero-typed as those who would rant about Para's not having guns....this is one reason alone why I'll never download this product.
I will be with Il-2 and WW2 online, but with iEN's attitude...nope, not WB3's for me!

Nope I certainly don't like the 1.06 planeset for a variety of reasons that I have discussed in depth on this BBS.
But I have been here since the very first day of Open Beta, and I have contributed literally hundreds if not thousands of hours of my personal free time to make the community and special events better.
So I ain't leaving for some long promised vaporware. (And its vaporware until its released to the general public).

How about perk planes get the shocking neon hot pink paint job and the rest of the non perk planes stay in a historical paint scheme? I think that way the perk planes would then get the "attention they deserve" and it would be a public service to the rest of us. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

If you read what I said carefully... you will note the sarcasm directed at Warbirds 3.0. My main point being that people here really shouldn't be whining so much when HTC does such a great job of updating their software... especially when compared to their almost wholly absent competition who can do little more than post a new screenshot each week while leaving their customers with obsolete technology for an unforgivably extended period of time.

Just a point of clarification. You can paint all the planes you like in WarBirds III, but the only ones that will be seen online are those which pass the scrutiny of the design group at IEN (which includes several players) and which are released for online use. There won't be any pink P-38's or invisible fuselages in WBIII.
There are some beautiful planes that guys have done too, truly labors of love. One or two have been selected for inclusion in WBIII, and more will no doubt follow. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see HTC do something similar - it's a great way of letting the players contribute to the development of the simulation, and if it passes whatever test HTC sets for it, there's no real reason not to have this facet developed. I agree that it's not a vitally important thing to have at this stage, and HTC's time is better spent expanding the planeset.
