I'm not a reloader, is 10,000 primers considered a large order?

Good luck.  I'm glad I stocked up about a week before the madness.  I bought 5 lbs of various powders, another 2000 bullets of various calibers, and 2 bricks of primers (small pistol and small rifle).

It will be some time until things get caught up.  There are people who dont even reload or who have never even fired a gun buying this stuff up in fear of what may be coming down the pipe.   :frown:

Not if you are in the reloading business to sell bulk ammo.  I want to get to about 35,000 rounds per quarter and that is only 35 boxes of ammo....so no it is not a lot.  All of my sources are bone dry and I am pulling my hair out.

Doubt you're gonna find that much at the moment.

Cabelas doesn't have the best prices but during the last "panic"  they were the first Internet retailer to have any quantity back in stock.

Not so much. They sell in "bricks" of 1000 so, no 10 000 is not a unusually large order.

Not that I have tried this but an airplane from one private field to another works well.

I did find a huge stash of small pistol magnum primers today....but dang they are not cheap..the offset is that I can use a lighter load in the cartridge and save a little on powder. Should be a wash.

That would be great.  Anything but 37.00 bricks would be great.

Stopped by there today and hung out for an hour or 2 (use to work there, still do when he needs someone to fill in)

They had literally no small pistol primers, and only about 1500 Large pistol primers. Now this is a shop (Store/indoor range) that use to store cases and cases of reloading stuff in their back room (floor to ceiling) ...........due to recent events, he is practically sold out of most reloading equipment, and supplies, and while he will take orders on the stuff, he cant commit to when it will come in.

My advice, if you can buy them at $37 a brick.....do it. To say that our conversation today had a rosey outlook for gun owners would be less than honest. From manufactures to suppliers/wholesalers things are not looking good at the moment.......Manufacturers are nervous in manufacturing things that may be caught in a ban, and the suppliers and wholesalers cant get the items if the manufacturers are not shipping merchandise.

I wish i had a better answer for you, but he will be in touch with me if things start to flow.

Yea, i hear ya.

I was in looking for an AR......he had 3, all on consignment and priced like they were new+. He sold over 150 the week after the Conneticut shooting. Said he had customers 3 deep at the counter. WHen he ran out of ARs, people were buying Mini14s and the like. He cant even (wont) take orders on any ARs at the moment. As he put it, The manufactures arent building any at the moment, as they dont want to get caught with the stock (that they wont be able to sell) if they are banned.

I ordered a Gen4 Glock 19 today, and 2 months ago, i could have gotten it in a week (when the Jerrys wholesale truck came in) now its looking like a month or 2 (and he had 10 other orders for Glock 19s and 5 for Model 17s)

Crazy stuff to say the least.

Im there once or twice a week, so ill keep my eyes open for you. One thing, if he does get them in, he will need to ship them to you, and pay Hazmat shipping prices to do it, which will be a bit pricey.

I use the same priming for my pistol as I do for my rifles and smooth bores (4F Goex)  :devil

I only know of two places that sell it near me, but I also have little or no competition for it.  I can order it, but only in 25# lots.
