Title: Repairs at arming pad
Post by: Rayon on January 11, 2013, 05:14:23 PM
Just a thought: full or limited repairs on the rearming pad and/or CV's.

I'm not sure how full repairs would affect the game play, but it would be great if certain damaged points could be fixed (not focusing on the control surfaces with this).  I'm thinking a damaged gun or fuel leak could be fixable.

Wouldn't it be easier if you could just type in the score you want?  :D

The mechanics prefer the pilots to go to the tower while they fix the damage.

Seeing how I worked on a flightline myself, I can tell you, the birds were turning during some repairs to get them back into the fight.

I'm sure that was scored differently than Aces High. What did you work on?

When I said repaired damage points, I was referring physical points, not take away another pilots points.  Sorry for any confusion.

Worked on Corbra's and Huey's (98-05 USMC).  Worked on decks with fast movers (Harriers) and a lot of problems came up during start up of all A/C platforms, so troubleshooting a gripe with the A/C was extremely common.  Usually things could be fixed within a 15 min as long as no moving parts were involved.

I got that, but score and ranking in AH is affected by how many sorties you can fly without serious damage since rearming is now allowed.
If you don't care about using this for score then why not just hit the tower and grab a new aircraft from the hanger? Since we have unlimited aircraft we don't need to turn the same bird around.

The idea is to help scores but there is a greater risk in not landing what has already been accomplished from the original run since going back into the fight doubles the chance of not landing it.  It is much easier to tower out, which is part of the trade off.

This is just an idea that I had and wanted to see what other's thoughts on it were.

Good point about the risk. Repair pads have been suggested before and I doubt HTC will ever go that route.  Of course I never expected rearm pads either.  :lol

listen this has been posted a zillion times.  hitech has always replied that the only way he can change the coad to allow repairs while on the pad was if he ended the flight while you wait.  so in reality while your airplane got fixed it would actually be another sortie which is the same as going to the tower and getting another plane.

but feel free to post another wish next month.

When I bring in a damaged airplane, I can assure you that it will definitely have to go to the hanger for repair.  That is, if it even holds together long enough to be towed that far.

I like the Idea but the more damage you have the longer you should have to sit on the pad......

I like the idea of just typing in the score I want.  This flying stuff is hard.

It'd be nice if minor damage (fuel leaks, etc) could be fixed... 60 seconds per "leak".

Fuel hits
Radiator leak (but not engine damage)
Engine Oil

Why not?

Engine oil would be leaking through the hole that has been shot through the crankcase. Doubt it would be fixable in any reasonable time

Flight-line is a misnomer.

Neither of these pieces of equipment fly.

They are just so damned ugly that the Earth repels them...

I'll have to disagree on that.  A Cobra is a beautiful deadly machine, while the Huey is more like its angry fat friend

Brilliant!  Really.

No need to exploit the rearm pad, exploit setting your "fighter" to "attack" and all the other erroneous behaviors just to be perceived of as having a high score.  If peeps could just type in the score they want...maybe...maybe they would fly more interactively and less gamey.  :old:

...or not.

Fun thought though.

Fine, but they still don't fly.

They beat the air into submission.

Not exactly, I could change it, but I said the only way I WOULD, change it is if the sortie ended.

I always thought they were so ugly the ground rejected them.
