Since the advent of the storch all gv bases should be in supply of aviation gasoline. In fact if I am not mistaken the M4 Shermans used radial aircraft engines requiring high octane aviation gasoline. The ammo bunkers at GV bases are stockpiled with links of .50 cal ammo for the pintle guns for the tanks which would work in .50 cal aircraft guns. I don't believe that bombs should be available and only aircraft having a weapons loadout that can be resupplied at the gv base should be capable of being refueled and and rearmed at least with ammo for the guns. i dont believe this would be a difficult fix and would allow for rearm if low on fuel or ammo and an airbase was not nearby. Seems perfectly logical to me.

They didn't use aviation gasoline, but plain 80 octane gas.

Ask yourself if a Armored Division would have anything to do with an airplane other than the L9.
An airfield is going to have a limited amount of gv resources, namely a motor pool and mechanics. A ground unit is not going to have jack for a P51D, other than some linked .50 cal ammo.
I say keep it as it is. It makes perfect sense.

Why would they have ammo for the guns? Not every plane uses just .50s or .303s.

If you would have read the entire OP you would see his solution for this. Still a -1 for me

I did read it. I dismissed it as absurd. By that rule only American aircraft and British and German rifle caliber machine guns, could be rearmed. That is a ridiculous suggestion.

The whole idea strikes me as only good for those looking to interrupt Tank Town.
No thanks.

Put the rearm pad a few feet inside the selection hangar door.
