Title: 110C Engine Shutdown Bug
Post by: Babalonian on January 17, 2013, 12:59:32 PM
The following are damaged/out:
Engine 1
Engine 1 Oil
Engine 1 Radiator
Right Flap ( :headscratch: , but not the issue)

Procedure:
Engine 1 is dead, due to combat damage.  Fly back home and land, during the flight the throttle works as normal controling the right/good engine.  I land and shut down the engine(s) with "E", no response from the game.  I hit Shift+1, no responce as expected for a dead engine.  I hit Shift+2, hit E again, and it shuts down.  I started Engine 2 again, then selected Shift+E followed by E, and nothing.

When engine 1 is out, engine 2 seems to isolate from the "all-engines" functions (although I have not tested if there is any bug/issue with both engines in working condition).

I believe this is common for all twin fighters, including P-38s and mossies, etc. Long-standing issue.

I believe you, I looked about 3-4 pages back in this forum for any similar threads (no luck on my part), but I know this wasn't a big deal.  I noted this also persists in the Ju-88 last night.

I think the game sorts most things into Engine 1 and all other engines. I'm not a 100% sure, but I'm betting that if it were engine 2 that was damaged and you pressed Shift+E it will allow throttle control on Engine 1 (guess thats to cater to the vast majority of single engined planes).

Would be interesting to see how that works on 4 engined aircraft. If you lose engine one, do you then have to shift+select each engine to adjust power?  :P

A similar (though not related) issue exists with WEP. If you've lost one engine in a dual, you can't select WEP on the remaining engine  :huh (unless you already had it engaged when you lost the engine). You'd think single engine ops would be one of those times when WEP would really be needed.
