This is getting tiring the best frame rate i get is 11 and it seems that my computer cant handle it the problem is its only a year old i am getting sort of angry because the game is unplayable at the moment
-
If you get a cheap computer a year ago, it's going to be even worst now. Post your Dxdiag report and the settings your using in the game a you might get some suggestions on what to tweak, instead of just sitting there and complaining.
-
As Fugi said, a dxdiag will help point out the bottleneck of your computer. My computer is three years old and handles the new clouds just fine. Your issue could be either the video card or the CPU (or both).
-
I went down to a frame rate of 3. It is my integrated video that is knocking mine down. I turned everything off in the game then went out lowed the texture to 512. Got up to 13 in the clouds. It was unplayable for sure. There were many areas without clouds so I went there.
The budget want allow a widow card upgrade and a power supply upgrade on my emachine which seems to be the normal recommendation. It doesn't make sense either to put much money in a four year old computer. I will post a topic in the hardware section to see if there is a low power video card that would give me some boost.
I see the future is the clouds so I know they must want to keep going with them but if they are everywhere then they may have a member drop off for sure. Seems like when the clouds first went puffy last year I did not take as big of a hit.

If you cant afford to play, then you cant afford to play. Why should we all suffer because some of you want to play this game on $300.00 Black Friday E Machines?

Because half of the customer base plays on PC's similar to this, you guys need to realize this, in FSO last night I was holding ~5 FPS through the clouds.
If there's no option to 'dumb them down' or something to help FPS and we get these clouds more and more, on more maps, and in more places I can foresee some unsubscribing.
-
Well then half the customer base needs to upgrade their stuff. I mean really, if you're going to dish out the cash for 250.oo joysticks, throttle and rudder pedals then why not spend 300 bucks on a video card and or power supply and some memory?
I've spent a couple grand easy over the years trying to keep up with the changes. If HTC wants to keep moving forward and compete with the other eye candy games out there, I'm all for it. I'm here for the long term. The "half of player base" you speak of Redbull will be gone as soon as the next flashy game comes along. So I say to them, if ya want to play this game then get the stuff to play it with.

Half of the people play on those machines? I find your guess a bit hard to believe, and it is a guess on your part.
I also don't agree with this argument that what is needed are lower tech graphics to attract more players. That sounds counter intuitive to me.

250? o.O
Not counting the subscription itself I've spent a total of $45 total in my near 2 years in Aces High
All 3 were new Logitech 3D Pro's ...
I am about due for a new one though, so you can chalk it up to 60 :old:
-
Weird, I didn't see where the poster said anything about the quality of his computer, just that it was a year old. Help him out with some performance suggestions. But to start implying he's some low class cheapskate whiner is pretty lame.

:lol I like the fact that you're frugal with your money, but do you think it's fair to other players to have to go without the eye candy because you're too damned cheap to spend some money? This is the only game I play. So that's where I put my extra cash.
-
Head into the Classified section and ask for used stuff, or better, go into the well known hardware sites (Tom's Hardware, overclockers.net) and ask for used/free stuff. You'd be surprised at what people are willing to give away. I built my dad a mediocre frankenstein of a PC from parts people were throwing away. He only uses it for mail and daily news, I paid a total of 40? 50 ish bucks for it.

well that's the impression I get from reading Randy1's post. That's whom I'm referring to...not the OP. The OP really doesn't get enough info to help him with. Other then he's angry that his year old computer is getting a FR of 11.
I think I did make some performance suggestions.....i.e. spend some money on ram, video card and power supply.
-
The only thing you can do with clouds is turn on or off the "bump map clouds" setting. You cannot remove the clouds. For some, even turning off the cloud bump mapping doesn't help much. I'm pretty sure they will have to upgrade some PC components - unless HTC can figure out why the new clouds impact frame rates so much. As far as I know, they are working on it and it's why there are very few clouds in the main arenas and the ones that are there are limited to a small section of the map.

Easy there....I, therefore you, is not a good practice. You have no idea who can afford what, yes? Sometimes folks don't know how to set their systems up to maximize the game. If you go to the Hardware and Software area right now, there is a thread that will blow you away regarding nVidia control panel settings. Those settings worked better on my machine and apparently others too, that have had issues and I promise you, I got the money, lol.

I've flat-out stopped playing because of the frame-rate...
-
It would be nice to play this game at its highest capacity and know all other players are doing the same. Maybe a "high end" user arena and an arena for the fodder :aok
I guess I agree with Uptown
;) :bolt:
JUGgler
-
I have just got the pc listed in my sig. I usually run a constant 60fps. When I get to the clouds the fps dives to the 20's then further down when other people show up.
-
My rig is by no means an high-end rig. It's a 5 or 6 year old AlienWare. But I have upgraded the video card a few times, and power supply ...and am only running 2 gigs of ram. Which that should be brought up to 4 gigs IMO. I don't play with every setting maxed out, just detailed water and terrain and max res texture package. So I guess my point there is, you don't actually need to spend tons of money to play this game. I only have FR issues one 1 map and that's only over tank town.
I see and understand your point Changeup. I too have had to do some homework on getting my setting just right in the past. But that's what it takes sometimes if you want to enjoy your hobby. But I'm wondering if these guys having trouble with the clouds are actually doing their homework?
Coming to the General Discussion forum and blaming bad FR on clouds? I guess that's one way to get answers, but I think the OP would be better served if he posted this in the tech support forum. But you're right, I have no idea what kind of money he has to spend or what kind of equipment he's running. Maybe if we had a few more details, he could actually get some help.
The OPs statement suggests to me that just because his machine is a year old he should be able to run everything smooth as glass by just merely turning it on. Has this gentleman even looked at the tech forums? We don't know. He didn't say. He just wants the clouds turned off because it doesn't suite him.
I for one like the clouds and want them to stay. I upgrade when needed, tweak settings and do regular maintenance on my computer to make things run to my liking. I'm not trying to be a dik, but just trying to get across the fact that besides the game mechanics learning curve, there's also a computer/video setting learning curve as well. At least for me there was/is.
I have noticed folks having FR problems only on certain maps.
-
I have something similar to James setup except I have two cards signed on and went into the arena and my frame rate was down by over half its normally maxed out
-
I know Midway is the root of all evil but I doubt he turned the clouds on.
-
Why dont you guys with computers having the issues with the clouds start posting for help in the hardware forum, or technical support? I know for a fact that Hitech is trying to find out why some people have problems while others do not. Posting in the general forums is only going to get you grief.
-
My pc is probably about 3 years old now & my video card is an old 9800GT, yet I can run the game maxed out (except shadows) with clouds and everything cranked, and still keep about 60 fps. Yet people with much newer stuff have problems I don't. It's just strange how stuff works in the world of computers.

yeah my computer is pretty ordinary and it's been good with the clouds but I do have it on low settings and 60 fps constantly.
-
One good reason for these problems indeed seems to be that some people believe that new is a synonyme of ultimate in gaming computers.
I noticed the clouds over the NW corner of the centre island dropped my frames to 20 - 30 when looking at them, looking the other way gave the familiar solid 60 on my 6 (six) years old rig (E8500, HD3870/512, 4GB, WinXP, 1920*1200; HiRes, detailed water etc., no Environmental bump mapping).
-
I will post you that 6970 this week :)
-
Same prob....Dell XPS 8500 3rd gen i5, upgraded to 1 G GDDR5 vid card. 8 gig system ram. Computer few a months old. Run 60 fps until the clouds. Drops right off when they pop up.

I wonder how well a machine that met the minimum and recommended specs would perform in the heavy clouds we saw the other night.

Uptown I like the puffy clouds and when they first showed up last year I posted how neat they were. For some reason the clouds last year did not knock down the frame rate like those over the island the other night. I think too, where you choose or was placed at for the home base that night had a lot to do with how much trouble you had with the clouds. When I signed in after the map reset I came up on the island where the clods were heavy.
Could I buy a more expensive computer to run the clouds? Yes I could but that means cutting back somewhere else. We all have priorities in life as I am sure you have too. I am sure the AH folks are looking for a cloud balance that will work for the most people.

how do i post it
-
I got an old Dell from 2006. I think it is still XP and I have a GForce 8400 video card. Even with all the graphics off I still play with about a frame rate of 15 to 25 at best. I have fiber optics connection and that helps I think. Reading set up information may as will be in Chinese since I am computer illiterate. I am retired and a new computer ain't on our high priority list right now.
-
how do i post it
Goto start/run and type in Dxdiag, and hit run. It will open another window and may ask about checking signatures, just click ok. Once it's done running... a minute or so, there are buttons along the bottom of the window. Click on the one save in as a txt or something like that. Save it some place you can find it, the desktop work good. Close the Dxdiag window.
Double click the new file you just saved, open it with notepad. Copy and paste the first third of the page (full page is too long and won't fit. that important info is in the top third) up to AND including <sound Devices> here to the boards.
In game settings can only be done by writing it down and typing it into a post, or screen capture the screen and upload the picture so you can add it into the post.

Wow..people actually buy these kind of PCs brand new? :huh Why? Seems like such a waste....You can get so much more for the same price..

i am not good with computers so please keep with me here i dont know if i did this right so please let me know Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120830-0333)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: eMachines
System Model: ET1331G
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250u Processor (2 CPUs), ~1.6GHzCPU is more than the minimum, but UNDER the recomended
Memory: 4096MB RAM Ram is ok, but more than 2000MB is used by your video, and operating system
Available OS Memory: 3840MB RAM
Page File: 1627MB used, 6049MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
---------------
Display Devices
---------------
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03D0&SUBSYS_01811025&REV_A2
Display Memory: 1912 MB
Dedicated Memory: 248 MBmore than minimum, but again less than suggested amount
Shared Memory: 1663 MB this is the video memory stolen from your system ram above
Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Basically what it means is this system wasn't made for gaming. Normal home computing, browsing the internet and so on. 3D gaming, not so much. As for tweaking, the best you can do is turn everything down. Textures on the first screen when you load the game under "video" turn it down to 256. In game, turn off as many bits of the eye candy as you can. It may look like crap, but you might get a reasonable frame rate.

Here's what the Walmart site says about this machine and especially the vidcard:
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE integrated graphics
For amazing graphics performance
And what's told on the "e-Machines(R) Confidential Selling Points" under the title "Amazing Performance and Storage":
NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ 6150 SE graphics delivers best-in-classperformance for games and applications along with delivering crisp and vibrant video.
That may be true when speaking about youtube videos, but definitely not for gaming. :furious
Randy1 has exactly the same weakness in his e-Machine, discussed on Hardware&Software (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,344302.0.html)

I was experiencing issues with FR due to the new clouds. Yesterday in Tank Town was in a tank and while sitting still could look in one direction that had no clouds and would get my usual 59-60 FPS, then I could turn my turret 45 degrees to an area that did have the clouds and FR dropped to 30. Disabling the cloud bump map only increased frame rate to 32-33. And this was sitting still on the ground static. Can only imagine that the problem would be compounded if I were in a plane flying around and through them.
Today I just went to the AMD site and updated my video card driver. FR seems to be back to normal :x

I have that same video card and can make the game run well with a few tweaks and turning a few things off, well a lot of things off.

looks like this but a solid 60FPS

Stop looking at his arse Uptown! Obama will tax you for that.

Weird, I didn't see where the poster said anything about the quality of his computer, just that it was a year old. Help him out with some performance suggestions. But to start implying he's some low class cheapskate whiner is pretty lame.
Neither was I. I was actually just jumping into the posts between Randy and Redbull about using low end E-machines and such to play. The original poster only ever said his PC was a year old.
If there is a technical issue causing the low FPS, I can't really help without knowing more.
However, if the cause is the hardware a person is trying to run the game on is far below the minimum specs, then I can't really feel bad for anybody who is struggling to run this game. AH-2 already has some pretty outdated graphics compared to other games like Rise of Flight and even Arma-2, and Arma is a first person shooter.

actually the new clouds are the only problem i had not issues with the other clouds

That is the part that is important. For me, the clouds in 9 13 sector yesterday or the day before, middle of a big map. Looking back/away back to 60, but right at them I was in mid 30's. It is specific to those clouds it seems.

This. I don't know why so many are having so much trouble with them only being enabled in a minute space of a map, if even at all. It leads me to believe it may be a problem somewhere else, or that the clouds may have nothing to do with the problem these players are having at all. IE: If a truck full of nails flips on a freeway in LA, it is not uncommon for everyone who picked up a nail in their tire for the next week or two in the metropolitan area to blame it on this incident, nevermind that they may of never drove on any freeway durign that time, or if they did then far from the one section on the one freeway that had the incident occur.

The clouds cover only a tiny part of the terrain. When I am in that part, and I look at the clouds, my fps drops in half. Anywhere else, or not looking at the clouds, and the fps recovers. I'm pretty sure its because of the clouds and not because I ran over a nail.
-
I really like the clouds. I really do wonder what is causing such an enormous hit to framerate that I see posted over and over. It didnt make a noticeable difference for me and my PC is a hacked together piece of junk.

Disable cloud bump mapping and lower (if not disable) the fullupdates to none. You may also want to think about disabling shadows or at the least reduce the shadow textures to the lowest setting. These little tweaks should get you enough FPS to play.
ack-ack

my new pc plays with everything maxed out, not shadows in plane as it looks odd above 2480 or what ever it is.
On the runway it was fsp 54 with everything on fire :old:
A lot of the settings I will switched off ie bump map terrain because it looks odd as well.
Again its choice for the individual, being old and decrepid some of the effects are wasted on me :)
By the way my pc was very expensive and I am scared to switch it on :old:

My pc is 7 years old but it can run ah - thanks to all AH's crew. :rock
It has a pentium 2.23 GHz, 2 Gb of memory, x1650 graphic card - in other words it sucks quite well
but it does its work after all. :)
It's probably that the Tracifi's pc has some problem.
:salute
