In the past i have used Turtle Beaches. Honestly without me dropping them or stepping on them, they both have shorted or pulled apart inside what looks to be the sound card. It is the part that is inline with the headset. They both were px21's. Im looking for a good headset that would be compadable with a Xbox 360. Any ideas?

Razer Kraken Pro Gaming Headset - for some reason, Razer has their stuff together with respect to headsets and price. This one retails anywhere from $50-70 and it outperforms most $2-300 headsets. Lots of positive reviews on Amazon. Or any Razer gaming headset if you have some extra coin to spend... avoid Sennheiser or Klipsch crap.

It really depends on how much you want to spend.
By the way Rip, not all Sennheiser headsets are "crap". Case in point would be the HD800 (http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sennheiser-hd-800.php) headset. If that is too pricey, consider the Sennheiser HD650 (http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sennheiser-hd-650.php). Or maybe the Fostex TH-900 (http://www.headphone.com/headphones/fostex-th-900.php) would be more in line.
It depends on whether you want open back or closed back.
Personally, I like the HD800. The audio is pure across the spectrum. No color, no surprising harmonics. Just pure sound. It is quite the listening experience.

The Kraken seems really good. Does it go to xbox aswell? It has to be able to plug into the controller i believe.

Before calling the head phones "snake oil", try a set. Make sure they are connected to a high end amp.
Also note the build quality when you try them.
I suppose they are no more "snake oil" than the B&W Nautilus speaker set is.

Yep. I bought a pair of HD 580's 13+ years ago, when I had a home studio going, and the sound quality on very high end head phones is worlds apart from what you get with a gaming set. They're one of 3 pieces that I still have, and I wouldn't sell them now.

There's a whole recent thread on it over here: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,343782.0.html
In general, if you check reviews or better yet check them out in person, you will get what you pay for. Just remember the law of diminishing returns.

Wow those HD800's look impressive, judging from the frequency response scale they look flatter than the Fostex at a 500 buck lower price! :aok
I may have to see if I can find a set to "test drive",I'm betting they'd sound just fine on my old integra amp.
