boo hoo...come to Montana for a winter.
-
6 here today
Wife called me at noon to tell me my Silverado had a flat tire, drove down, spent an hr+ fighting with the cable assembly that lowers the spare. Nothing....rusted fast. I finally said the heck with it after i slammed my frozen hand against the frame......, jacked, took off the tire, took it to the garage, then ran back up and threw it on....Literally froze my backside off.
Thank god i already have kids, or we wouldnt be able to try until the Spring thaw. :lol

-25F back in my home state of Minnesota was normal, and usually lasted for a week, sometimes two weeks.
I don't feel bad for you. Sorry, but I just don't.

had -4 this morning at the shop with a high of 13, too bad we dont have a ton of snow to go along with the cold
-
I saw some knucklehead on the local news being interviewed about the cold snap. He whined about how chilly he was. Of course, this idiot was wearing a zip-up sweatshirt (unzipped) over a tee shirt without gloves or a hat. Ya can't fix stupid... The rest of his outfit was, well... It looked to me like he selected his wardrobe from the lost luggage department of a Tijuana cab company.

I'm in Ohio as well. I welcome this stuff. While it is cold for Ohio, i can't STAND the summers around here. Ya ya i know it gets alot hotter elsewhere in the states, but we get alot of humidity here in the summer and i work about 10 hour days outside in the summer when business is booming (residential/commercial tree service). Never have gotten sick or dizzy from the cold, the heat mixed with rediculous amounts of humidity is another story.... Bring on the cold.

The windchill here in El Segundo is making the 74 degrees it is feel like a chilly 69 degrees. Almost had to break out a jacket to counter the chill.

Pfft. -3 here yesterday with a wind chill of -30. Today was slightly warmer with a high of 5 degrees and -17 wind chill.
You think that you got it bad?

I do feel sorry for the poor schmucks that live in New Hampshire. Saw on the news where in update NH is was a chilly -85 degrees with the wind chill. Why people insist on living in areas like that is beyond me, especially when they can enjoy nice summer weather here in Southern California during the winter.
Might have to play hooky from work tomorrow and head to the beach in the afternoon.

Maybe people don't like the crime rate and level of pollution that resides in southern California. Its nice looking on the outside, but kind of icky on the inside. Even with that said i'd rather live in a less populated place. Preferably New Mexico or maybe Arizona.

-4 and snow on the ground for a week here in Haarlem

After spending a winter in the Columbia Gorge, you'll be wishing it was cold.
Damn wether loves to hold right above freezing, and I mean RIGHT above freezing, like 32.5 degrees, and just dump freezing cold rain on you.

40 minutes north of NYC and with wind chill it is a warm 6 degrees. Lucky me the school had a water pipe burst in the main academic building. About 80% of the building no heat. Class and studying in the classrooms is a blast in this cold.
-
As long as there's no snow, it's cool.
12-25F in NYC. Wind chills sucks though.

Its suppose to be -40 this weekend

boo hoo...come to Montana for a winter.
Lived in Bozeman for 5 years, I didn't think the winters where all that bad there. My biggest complaint was that the never plowed 3/4 of the roads in town.
Now up on the high line is a different story. I have friends in Chester, Havre and Cutbank, pretty brutal up there, as well as most of the Dakotas, and Alberta.
With the nasty temperature inversions, it's actually been much colder where I'm at now in Northern UT, then it is in Bozeman. For the last week it's been around -15°F mornings, warming up to 5-8° for the high. My brother flew out of Bozeman this morning and said it was a balmy 25°. I don't like inversions, you can go for weeks without seeing the sun, but it's nice to drive up the canyons and go skiing where it's sunny and 25° warmer.

Interesting useless tidbit...
-40° is the same in Fahrenheit and Celsius. :aok
-
I enjoy Winter the most and don't complain regardless of temperature. Too much fun wheeling in the snow.

Was 0° fahrenheit here in Wilkes Barre a few minutes ago when I checked.

This arctic flow was in weather forecast news last week; they call it "sudden stratospheric warming", but are not sure how works and what's causing it;

Didn't think anyone lived there, anymore.
WB/Scranton is just a place I drive through on my way to Nicholson :)
It was so cold here, this morning, that I saw a teenaged kid with his pants pulled up...
-
I lived in Canada for like 12 or 13 years. Don't know how I managed to stay that long, I hate the cold. My son is in school up there now....poor guy has never faced anything like it before.

Beautiful sunny 7 degree days. What's not to love?

81 in Round Rock Tx...I been to Iowa when it was -9 with a wind chill of -40.....Thats why even entertaining the thought of moving to the north makes me look hard at the gun cabinet for something to shoot myself with. :lol

if you know you have a water freeze problem, let the water trickle at night
Yea but then it keeps me out of a job..... :lol
(Sound advice tho)

Yea but then it keeps me out of a job..... Hehe!
same here, thats what I did all day yesterday :lol

When it gets -30C even that can then freeze up in your sewer if your sewer pipes are not well insulated and cause your next flushing to overflow :x

I'm feeling the cold, stupid cold front and 62 degrees. :devil

Forcast for 80s here today, the dawning of spring!
-
it was -51F here couple days ago...

Was 114 in Sydney when I was there a few weeks ago. Thankfully I didn't have to leave the hotel until the temp dropped later in evening. :D
Of course whether it's hotter or colder, it's all due to man made climate change. I say what ever the greenies have tried over the last few years obviously isn't working and governments around the world should ask for their money back.
<S>...-Gixer
-
I'm not sold on man-made climate change. We probably put more carbon in the air by breathing than we do with all our factories and cars, and the temperature seems to fluctuate; I mean back around 200 years ago, we were in the middle of a mild ice age.

Climate change is man-made. Mindlessly vomiting millions of gallons of waste into the Pacific ocean and constantly filling our skies with pollutants. There's even traces of mercury now found in fish. Nuclear waste being crapped into the Pacific from the melted down Japanese nuclear reactor is a big reality too. Deforestation happening by man? Impossible. Wait...What? I think my brain just fried up there.

Ecological damage? Sure. Making it hotter or colder? Not sure on that, at least us being the primary cause. Remember correlation doesn't mean causation.

Man-made climate change applies to the atmosphere heating up and cooling down too. Its a slight change in temperature, maybe 2 degrees at max, but it still happens.
-
Like I said, I think its more of there begin 6+ billion of us exhaling untold millions of tons CO2 each day. I really don't believe that our factories are causing excessive (or even noticeable) change in temperature, not without a lot of help anyway.
-
As for mankind vs nature .. check up on what just a moderately sized volcano did .. Mt. St. Helens.
I read it blew a hole into the ozone layer the size of New Hampshire
with more fleurocarbons than man has emitted in his existence..among billions of tons of other stuff.
Using more pure explosive power than all the nations on this earth posess.
It rained.
All better.
Well .. except for that lil old lady who wanted a front row seat,
and the reporter who thought he was far enough away.
And if you really want to scare yourself ..read up on Krakatoa.

I live in the upper midwest and I work outside. The rubber on my fancy North Face boots is cracking and splitting like crazy.

Sure, in the same way all those cows farting contributes to climate change. Those damn cows, existing and such.....
Only way we could exhale less CO2 would be to kill a bunch of us off. That being so, I don't consider it 'man made', since we have little control over it.

common snapper I am guessing :headscratch:
you didn't say Alligator snapper...love the snappers....had a giant common.... for a little while.... but had to get rid of him he had an extreme hatred of humans and when ever you got with in 3 feet he was on full attack...he was caught of the highwa from a brother in law.......no joking....his shell was easy 27' and his neck was thicker then my ankle :O
the day I released him...a friend jumped over him to get across the room.... :O
he came within an inch of losing his jewels........ :O :O his head strike was faster then any snake I have held or seen....
which is quite a lot :D
150 gallon..cherry wood stand and top.....2500 just for tank and stand

He can now eat 2 dozen goldfish in a week :D doesnt seem to have a bad temper yet, I make sure to handle him a little here and there hopefully he doesnt get mean as the daughter likes him a lot. I like the tanks btw :rock

he is a little guy.... :aok
snappers will never tame down....they will grow accustomed to you, but if they associate you with food that can be bad later on....
very powerful and fast head strike...the biggest one I had was wild caught so it would never be able to be tamed in any way...
gators have a place in my heart but I am a Monitor fan....love the Nile Monitor probably my favorite creature on the planet
Nile I made in Blender :D

I have a Staffy. He's friendly and always pleased to see me. You don't need to buy him a vivarium, he can just sit on the floor in the living room. A friend stepped over him once to cross the room and Jasper rolled over to have his tummy tickled. You can take him for a walk and everything :old:
