I'm quite an outspoken advocate of close-in manoeuvring dogfights on this forum as some of you might have noticed perhaps sometimes to the point of being a pain in the arse about it. While appreciating that the MA and the MA style of play is probably the norm for most players I sometimes wonder if a lot of said players would be interested in developing their pure dogfighting skills if the environment actually encouraged rather than discouraged that.
Therefore some friends and I have decided to try and reestablish the Breakfast Club.
What are we about?:-
Between the hours of
8-11 a.m. British Summer Time
9-12 a.m. Central European Time
3-6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time
2-5 a.m. Central Standard Time
1-4 a.m Mountain Standard Time
12-3 a.m. Pacific Standard Time
Weekdays only, the Furball lake in the DA is at its quietest with often only half a dozen players fighting. At those times we generally universally agree to respect the 1 on 1s and really push the ACM to its limits. We figure this timeslot might allow some players to pop in for a quick fight early in the morning or late at night depending on where you live & your lifestyle. Regardless the other AH activities are usually rather quiet at this time including the MA.
Our invitation is to come and join us. Everybody feel welcome to tune to channel 258 for friendly banter and technical ACM discussion, bring your favourite aeroplane, don't bother climbing too high, just head out over the lake looking for a fighter that is not already engaged, try to equalise your energy state roughly and then merge and fight until one is defeated. Please respect the 1 on 1s by not picking, watch be all means by circling at a respectable distance. If someone has just finished a fight give them a minute to gather some energy before engaging.
With extending this invitation we also hope you will join in the spirit of the session: train, try new things, try new aeroplanes, try to fly well and learn well and do not focus so much on the outcome of the fights, there is plenty of competition where the score is recorded, elsewhere.
For those who need it, help with ACM may be offered if you ask for it and even specific issues can be worked on if you are having problems. If you just generally want to improve then you can often get feedback on your flying from an observant & critical third party which might reveal something specific you do need to work on.
Please leave all ego, squadron affiliations and MA and forum resentments etc. at the door. Think of this as a separate club of players with the common interest in dogfighting even if it is just for this tiny segment of the Aces High day.
Of course this is an informal arrangement, we are not authorised to override the normal arena message of 'anything goes', we are just a like-minded bunch who try to use this arena for this purpose when it isn't really used for anything else. Usually the first players who begin picking and refuse to participate end the session, there is nothing we can do about that, just ask what the situation is when you drop in.
This invitation is extended to new and experienced players alike. :joystick:

"Uh Dick? - excuse me, Rich? Will milk be made available to us?"
-
sounds fun.... very late for me though...but I may show up.....
edit
ehhh sorry Shida.... :o
-
Yes!
-
Lately my only dogfight training has been getting my bellybutton kicked in repeatedly by Krupinski, but I dunno how often I can make 2am-5am hehehe
-
This is some of the most fun that I have, and it's awesome that i get to have it regularly with excellent pilots like Shida, RedBull, Erhler and a few more. We talk, we laugh, we get tips on how to improve, and we get to be killed by Shida, RedBull, Erhler...lmao. Seriously folks, this is friendly, fun and educational. It would really be nice to see some new faces, and this really does help to make the skies a bit more friendly. Thanks Shida for posting!
-
HEY!!! I just noticed! Copprhed is a COPPER member now! ROFLMAO! =S= to all!
-
Sounds like fun....my time makes it 3-6am...not sure how much I'll be there unless I can get back into my 430-5am rising schedule. Sounds like it would be worth trying it though!
:salute Zaphod

All hail Mar, thane of the outside toilet, and that little gravelly patch next to the garden shed (http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k526/rwrk2/notworthy.gif)
I think I'll have to check those times again as I think they aren't right. I'll revise it in 24 hour clock format.

Is it a bad thing that I could read all of that?
-
Central time is -6 from GMT, fairly simple 8am in UK is 2am Central time.
I'm from UK living in an area covered by Central time, I have to keep the times straight
for when I need to contact relatives over there.

D'OH! I knew that.
Nrsh you are responsible for the emotional trauma that I have sustained thanks to you building up my hopes and dreams and then smashing them to pieces through your own incompetence. There will be a squad hearing Monday at 8 AM GMT, and you shall be fined four hundred rolls of toilet paper.

I could read it too, but very very slowly :old:

Thanks xbrit, I was in a real hurry and flipping between reading which timezones were which and jotting down the times.

I'm sorry buddy. I do search for you time to time but can't get online very much these days. I didn't have any surplus toilet paper so I have sent you two hundred chocolate coated dung beetles. They are a delicacy in some cultures, I hope this compensates your inconweenience :rock

Is this correct now? Can somebody check for me please:
8-11 a.m. / 08:00- 11:00hrs Greenwich Mean Time
9-12 a.m. / 09:00-12:00hrs Central European Time
3-6 a.m. / 03:00-06:00hrs Eastern Standard Time
2-5 a.m. / 02:00-05:00hrs Central Standard Time
1-4 a.m / 01:00-04:00hrs Mountain Standard Time
Midnight-3 a.m. / 00:00-03:00hrs Pacific Standard Time
Not so good for some of the American timezones I realise depending on your working hours / sleeping habbits. If only we could prolong the onset of AirQuake mode which ironically coincides with a lot of Americans waking up :headscratch: :bolt:
Dogfight fans will just have to move to Europe, Australia or New Zealand:
4-7 p.m. / 16:00-19:00hrs - 6-10 p.m. / 18:00-22:00hrs Australian
8-11 p.m. / 20:00-23:00hrs New Zealand
As I say it's weekdays only. The weekend is pretty much AirQuake at all times.
-
Always the most fun. Great fights, superb banter, genuine fair play and almost entirely devoid of ego. :old: :joystick:
-
I'm in the DA right now if anyone wants to come show me how much I suck. :old:
-
Well Redbull just finished riding me like an Olympic trainer. Just a few fights and I'm shaking like a leaf, <<S>> to you bud.
Gonna have to take it a little easier from now on; I have no idea how I'm going to feel at work tomorrow. Make no mistake though, I still want to keep going to this Breakfast Club every chance I get. :)
-
I was there last night from ~7:15-:45 am GMT, sorry I didn't have much more. I'll try to stick around later another night, I had to get going early and only found MA-style hording over the lake (lost interest in sticking around).
