Title: Ah2 podcast
Post by: Raga on February 02, 2013, 12:53:54 AM
I think this community should find a way to start a podcast for the game of aces high. I believe that would be a really good thing for this game and this forum to have. I'm sure somebody here would love to step up and host the show and have all the best players or maybe even development people of the game as guests on the show to discuss various topics about the game. Topics ranging from the play style of some of the best players and what makes them unique, actual game play and discussion about different aircraft, the latest strategies and why they are interesting, areas where the game could be improved ect.... Look we all love to go on these forums because we like this game and we want to dig deeper into it. What could be more fun than listening to podcast style interviews with some of the best sticks. I think it could be highly educational as well as many of us are audio learners. I think it would also add a level of depth to the game which I think we all desire so much about aces high already. I know I would love to listen to it. My two cents.

I'm sorry but this game has no where near the player base it needs to justify a podcast. I come from the world of online poker and after black Friday all podcast disappeared, and that's with a player base in the millions. Just not enough funding available in these times of woe.

Podcasts can be done by hobbyists - no need for funding.

Trust me podcasts take a good deal of money and time to produce. If someone is willing to make a podcast on there own dime i say godbless them. All I'm saying is don't count on any sponsors or advertising if your looking to do this.

The hardest part of a podcast is the maintenence of the equipment and overall design of the event. We have enough people in here to contribute articles, we did something similar in Airwarrior; it took everyone approximately 20-30 minutes to record sound files but it took the base organizer a tremendous amount of time.

So the question is, who would be the base organizer/production manager? It needs to be ome one with a lot of free time and willing to work with the entire community.

I guess if your just planning on making some third rate pile, sure no problem. I'm not trying to get down on anyone i love the game to. i just know the logistics from years of poker podcasting and if you actually want people to listen it takes content and producing.

Apropos of this does anyone have audio files of Hitech at the conference that they can upload?

I had a couple but lost them. The one on auto-ack was oddly riveting.

Granted their is a learning curve and I know NOTHING of the logistics but how many people would listen to an ahpd vs a net poker pod? Just look at the videos some of these guys make  I dont doubt the talent is out there in the ah community to  make a decent AH-centric podcast if someone is interested.

I agree just becasue their arent Millions to listen doesnt mean that the community would not listen, nor justify a Ah podcast, especially if someone is interested in producing one. Just look at films and screenshots section. You see the same people putting out videos, if someone has the same intrest in a podcast Im sure it can be done and will be listened to . I know I would love to hear some of the top sticks  giving tips and pointers. It can be a recoreded phone convo for all I care.

I love making fun of people who "know".  They just "know"....they are in the "know" about what will work or won't work.  I hope that guy puts his RL name somewhere so I never accidently hire him.  I don't need people who "know" things won't work.  Especially things that are pretty good ideas.  I want those guys to go to work for my competitors so we can pwn them. :aok

I learned from a wise uncle Sam too never speak up when voluntary people are being sought after. But this is something I would gladly take on.

What would they talk about...

"Today's AH2 report. Bish where hording A42,A29,A31,V13,V14,V45,V46,A23,A3, Map Change, A45, A43, A56, A1, P32, A34, A32, A32, A32 (They give up on this one after 3 P51 raids.) A33, A33 (they have run out of numbers and the hordes are failing atm)..., the rooks are at 20k+ and the knights still wont take bases because they are furballing."

AH podcast never has to make 1 cent of profit. So that you're in the 'know'.

There could be plenty to go over, the races, the strengths and weaknesses of ac and gv, tactics, FSO recaps Scenerio recaps  AVA snapshots. It doesn't have to be the same people you can do a phone interview with guys  who talk about their style, Hell, if someone knows an old pilot you can do interviews. Book reviews... So much can be covered that is pertinent to the game besides the hordes and usual BBS stuff. That being said the right guys need to be in on the podcast and the BBS persona need to go.

Oh man I'm glad you guys like this idea, usually my ideas are shot down in seconds by the bbs aces :). I know that I love listening to podcasts and they exist for very small market games and they are very entertaining. I think one for aces high would bring at least most of us in who read these forums because we are looking for more because we love this game.

Its a great idea.  There are more than enough people playing to get interviews to places where great sticks live, HTC is the Dallas area where a lot of players live, etc etc.  A short list of subjects would be easy to come up with and beneficial for ALL that would want to listen, especially if listening means getting better and having fun.

A podcast of Mazz is something the general public is just not ready for....to unleash the Mazz Rant on the general population could have long term affects....irreversible long term affects.

All you really need is a IPhone. Infact I'm listing to a podcast right now recorded on a Zune.

to record the podcast, it would be pretty much easier to use skype.  you can use whatever you want to listen to it.

Just need someone willing to make ~6-10 a year to step up.  I'd vote to focus on a few short ones with quality than going for quantity, especialy with this niche community.

I don't think there is enough people in this game to justify a podcast. Not because of cost or anything but for people who would actually listen to the podcast. Plus what would you talk about?

If someone wants to put the time in for maybe 15 listeners more power to them. Good luck.

Its pretty easy to make an agenda for the show :

1. This week on the forums
2. This week in the Late War Arena
3. Interview with XXXX an veteran player since the Confirmed Kill days.
4. Interview with James Jameson an 85 year old WWII Vet and Aces High player
5. Do AcesHigh need a new Graphics Engine, Will War Thunder steal AH´s Glory?

Thats just by brainstorming for 1 min. I bet you can do better.
