while the rest of the formation does not drop.

Good idea......Makes the 4000lb cookies a little more usefull

Wouldn't the bombers that haven't dropped yet fall behind due to having more weight?

No, because they formation on the lead and if the lead drops x bombs, so do the drones. Under the OP's suggestion it would be impossible for the lead to have fewer bombs than the drones, but it would be possible for the drones to have fewer bombs than the lead.

They don't fall behind when having an engine dead so...........

Yes they do.

Personally, I think this is a bad idea. It would effectively triple the bomb load.

It really wouldn't change anything because on high ord targets like hangers you wouldn't use this and on low ord targets like the town you would need to make multiple passes to do the same amount of damage. The only advantage to using this is that it can be more usefull to use the large (2,000lb+) bombs against the towns and strats.

You dont suppose that lancstuka's might think this a useful tool to make multiple passes on a ground war somewhere with 3 seperate 4k cookies? Or however many 1k bombs might be dropped? This would effectively give a b26 12 1k bombs to be dropped individually instead of 3 bombs 4 times per formation. And I could see someone in b29's at 35k feet making passes and dropping bombs for a hour.

It also makes it more useful for hitting towns for score. you could fly over a lot more towns per hour this way to rack up score.

Then it would give you hours to intercept the milkrunners.
Milkrunners are going to do it regardless.

Yes they do.

So they fixed it? It has been some time since I lost an engine on a drone while flying the 17/24/lanc and the last time I had a drone lose one engine, it kept up as if nothing was wrong. It's when they lost another engine that they fell behind.

Try it with a two engine bomber, it's always been that way.

With the two engine bombers, yeah, I'm aware. I'd think something wrong otherwise. :)
The thing is, when I first started playing (back in Tour 113), any time one of my 4 engined drones lost an engine, it would start to slowly fall behind. Of course, when it lost 2, it would quickly fall behind. Now (at least the last few times it has happened to me), if one of them loses an engine, it will keep up, no problems. If it loses a 2nd engine though, that's when it will fall behind quickly. This is me at full power mind you. If memory serves me, this started to happen to me after they made a change to the bombers, a change about how they gunned. Hell, I can't remember WHAT they changed though, but it was around that time. :headscratch:

No!
Formations were added together with the full manual calibration system to compensate for the need to drop salvo's (carpet). It is no longer the case as bombers got their laser guided bombs back. The meaning of such a request is that one guy in a B17/24 can climb to 30k and shut down all radar, troops and ammo across several bases, from orbit. Bombers wingmen dropped on command of the leader and so they should in game.
