Title: Looking for a WW2 B17 photo
Post by: TopGear on February 04, 2013, 08:06:59 PM
I saw at one time a photo of a bombing run of B17's(I think, it's been years since I've seen the pictures). Anyway it was a series of photos where the released bombs of the aircraft hit a lower flying one and broke it up. Again I'm going from memory so maybe I don't remember it quite right. Thanks.

Seen it in a book called Flying Fortress. Not sure where my copy is.

Yeah that was it, thanks a bunch.  It's  funny how some pictures just stick with a person.  Here is the rest of that series and a bit of a description.  Thanks again.

We had the Collings bombers in Burbank and I met a ball gunner by the name of Bill Richardson.  He was in the ball of the aircraft taking the photos.  The aircraft that got hit drifted under them as they dropped.
