I know what you will say...
But the next WWI airplane that is added should be the Albatros D.Va without a doubt. Although Ill admit no WWI airplane will ever be added. One could make a strong case for many fighters such as a SPAD XIII, Nieuport 17C, and S.E. 5a but the Albatros D.Va takes the cake without a doubt.
Flame on.

why?

Not popular and probably what HTC would consider their biggest waste of resources yet. Although, if 10 people were in WWI arena at all times of day, I would never go to the MA.
-
+1 perdweeb plus my spad of course lol :)
-
OTOH, more love to the WWI arena might encourage more players to actually fly there.

I mean all that and maybe a bomber or two and it could really pick up. Although RoF really takes the cake for WW1.
-
The WWI arena is awsome fun when you only have a short time to play and there's about 10 people in there but I'd have to say the French are under-represented.
-1 to the Albatros. +1 to a Spad or Neuport. Regardless I'll still fly the Camel.
-
Wouldn't the Albatross without the SE5 make it pretty much an Albatross arena?

Every airplane we have has advantages over the D.Va. Albatros is such a work horse though, shame it wasnt in the original add.
-
if we had more planes and ground objects in ww1,i would be in there all the time.....most times i check, nobody is there...and so off to the ma. spad...any. neiuport...any, albatros...any and maybe a two seat armed halberstadt to even things out...would be alot of fun.
-
I dont see a need for ground objects or a German 2 seater. The Bristol is a fighter by design and definition, much like a Bf 110. Heavy fighter-bomber. Im ok with the Bristol being in the game but not happy with the way it is used in the arena. Some people do some pretty lame stuff in it.
I do not thimk adding planes would help the overall popularity, only for a few days. Most people will want to try the new bird so WWI will be popular for a week maximum. On the Nieuport 17 and S.E.5a, they both will be so out-classed against what we have now they would become Hangar Kings very quickly. The SPAD XIII would be the same way except for the speed demons that like to fly straight like iwlf and Ordy. The SPAD XIII would easily be the fastest in the arena if it was added today. But as I said, try to turn in a SPAD and your toast in .5 turns. So I see no need for those either. We have a mid-late war plane set in WWI, to go to early-mid (SPAD XIII, N-17, S.E.5a) would just be a waste in my opinion.
Although it would be great to see 20 different aircraft in the arena, it will never happen. So, IF we are only going to get 1 or 2 more we might as well add planes that will play a significant role. Therefore Albatros D.Va takes the cake (copyright Sukov).
-
Yeah, because the large number of late-war planes TOTALLY keeps people from flying the Brewster, early-mark Spits and 109s, P-39s, etc. etc. etc. etc. in the Main Arena.
-
Apparently you don't see my point. We've had ww1 arena for 4 years and have 4 planes. If a plane 1 plane us added it would be a miracle. That miracle plane needs to be one that fits. Of we inhad say 15 planes them things change and err could even see a Fokker e iii. We have over 100 planes in ww2 arena so of course someone out there will flu early and miss war rides.

If they added a new plane, IMHO the SE5a would be a better fit for the current lineup. A little boom and zoom with the ability to extend would not hurt but compliment the four planes. The Se5a is a natural fit against the Bristol F2b
because of the upward firing Lewis gun. That would be an awesome fight because the SE5a can catch the F2b and fire up from underneath. :D :D

Another way to add another plane might be to add a variant of the Fokker D.VII. The Germans made a late war variant with a 185 hp BMW engine that was described as being able to hang on its prop. It may have been the best all around plane at the end of the Great War. After the Armistice with Germany they were all ordered to be destroyed.

What? You smoke crack before you posted that? Off your A game. :rofl

Yes actually. What I was going for is IF we had, say 15 planes in WWI, it wouldn't bother me to add the Fokker E.III. But considering the planeset (4) we have now the 5th should be something that can somewhat compete. Nieuport 17, S.E.5a, and SPAD XIII (except for speed factor) cannot compete.

What about ww1 bombers???

What about ww1 bombers???
Lame and pointless. If so...Gotha IV and Handley Paige O-400
-
.....and to save money..... The Gotha and Handley Page could use the same FM. :)
It does not cost anything to dream does it?
:salute

Best looking German fighter of WWI :aok
-
I'm +1 for all rides mentioned. WW1 room is a hoot and a BIG SAUTE to the guys who fly in there regularly. Any time I go in all I receive is courtesy and respect! Hmmmmmmm, maybe there's a lesson there for the MA pilots....nah, they'd never learn.....
-
Phatzo, that's a beautiful model airplane!

The Albatros may be the prettiest plane of WWI but you are correct HTC will not be spending resources on the WWI arena. Have you tried Rise of Flight? My computer does not like it but they do have a lot of WWI war birds to use and they seem not to all fly the same.
