Talking about once you are saddled, or making a slashing pass on them... not talking flippy mcflippy flop, but people with genuine SA and timing when avoiding the shot or giving you the smallest target possible.
Who is the hardest person to apply bullets to?
For me, it's been Ink/JETSOM... whether it's been a fast or slow fight, getting a gun solution on him has been markedly more difficult than anyone else I have come up against.
-
Ink is a good choice and I will add Redbull to that list. In a P38 Delirum. So many others that right there together I could keep adding to the list.
-
I'll second all of the above, and add Soulyss. I've had the pleasure of fighting him a few times now, and on the one occasion I actually landed hits on him, it was a hail mary cockpit snapshot. I felt like I won the lottery.
In addition, I don't think I've ever got even the hint of a gun solution on Joach1m. He makes me feel like a nooby jerk. :frown:
-
sc0tch, Ink, Krup, kappa, IrishOne in his A5 is untouchable, SkyRock in his -1, ... Some sort of pattern here... :headscratch:
Anyway I second Joach1m as well, he still spanks me like a 2 weeker every time we fight :aok :cry
:salute

Uhm, i choose... Gryffin, the man makes me think twice when a jug is around
-
RedBull, meet me in the locker room, I give you a tune up.....Uncle Jerry
-
:O :O :cry :bolt:
-
just like anyone from the 80th, Bighorn, Joachim, Krup, Mar
theese are only those i can remember - im sure there are a couple more i couldnt beat, no matter how i was trying
-
Debrody's another one for my list, G6 and D9 I get spanked :cry
-
But anything else, i got mercylessly beaten every single freakin time :lol
-
Aren't you guys forgetting about Latrobe????
-
Latrobe is very good, i think he is better than me.
But Bighorn flies in a whole different dimension.
-
Any guy flying straight and level 400 off my 12.
-
Apparently I am a bigger derp than usual today, Latrobe should earn a spot on anyone's list, he's unreal in just about anything you throw him in.
-
That guy doing all the neg-g maneuvers in that video of Pand's. :rofl
-
there are a lot of stick stirrin' bastages' out there.
Otherwise, the guys with the 190's, Spit16's, Ki-64's, and F4U's that do the °180-°270 rolls, barrel rolls, or other such non-fish floppin' stick stirrin' move are hard for me to hit simply because of the immediate change in direction. The planes that can't roll as well are not as much of a problem for my crossed eyes, shakey hands, and wobbly JS to deal with. :D
-
Can't recall his proper handle...Japaneese I believe...was in the Ki84. Unbelieveable...how he had it dancing.
Anyone in a Yak.
Oh..and Ghi when he takes his hurricane underground, only to pop back out 400 behind me.

+1
I think it is Nishizawa in the ki84 that I can't hit.

Lol, yes, this.
-
Krupnski...except for when I force him to fight in P38s. :devil

:rofl :rofl
I still watch that video for entertainment :)

Pand, get tazz in here :)
I'm pretty sure I have a spot on his list for my epic 85mm avoidance in my chute :)
-
Latrobe, ya, how could I forget about him.
Real interesting too, is when these sticks burn your butt, it makes you feel good that at least you had a chance to go head to head with them.
-
Tongs in his Ki 61
His SA and timing is 2nd to none :aok
-
Bighorn was always the absolute hardest to land any hits on...
Many years ago I was dueling him and finally got an angle on him somewhere near the end of some really narly rolling scissors... he was below my plane and coming up right in front of me, I couldn't see him yet but I knew he was coming up and was going to be right in front of my guns as we were both to slow to do any "getting out of the way"... so I heard him coming up and just waited and then it happened... He had turned his plane to profile, and flew so close to my nose that even with my convergence set at 200, he flew between the convergence of my wing guns on the spit5 we were dueling in... no shiz... I pulled the trigger and watched all the bullets go on either side of him.... of course then he flopped over and towered me.... His best move was fluidly 'adjusting' to the circumstances of the fight.
:aok
-
This guy of course

-
For me it has to be Latrobe...... I'll swear he reads my mind..the other experten all out manouvre and avoid the guns on with dexterity ( i just never get a good solution on them) but Latrobe puts himself constantly across my sights to roll, slew or turn away just as I pull the trigger.
-
RedBull, meet me in the locker room, I give you a tune up.....Uncle Jerry

My airplanes are always full of holes and leaking fuel and oil everywhere. I don't think I'm qualified for this list. :joystick:

Yeah, you are, and you would probably be #1 on this list for me, also an old squaddie of mine, Wiley. Maybe he isn't hard for you guys, I wouldn't know, but he knows every move I got and is always just ahead of whatever I throw at him.
-
Greebo and his F6F. He is the hardest one for me to hit out of all of them....
-
not sure if any of you MA guys know him, but Kabooki, he does this flip floppin sliding and everything inbetween in his spits, then somhow or another he squeaks back around on my 6 and shoots me in the head  :rofl
-
I don't find anyone especially difficult to hit at all.
ack-ack

I second that. Haven't run across ACK ACK too much, but when I did he made sure he made me pay for my stupid moves. :furious

RedBull in his K-4 (I can only get pings and never any real damage)
Mercy in the P-38 Can you say Schooled, he even told Poppy and I what we did wrong in our 38's.
Ink in the Ki-84 slips out of gun solution at last minute in almost every fight Ive ever had against him.
When I think of more Ill post them.

Dunno bout that... I've been on the pointy end of your bullets a couple of times. Seems like they went where they were supposed to. :aok

Or:

"I thought you were out of E!"
"That is because you are stupid!"

I find my kids and my wife the hardest persons to hit. Not that I wouldn't but they're so darn fast with their legs! :t

Mitsu?
No...for some reason I thought it began with the letter, "B".
-
This thread is absurd, how can you know who is the hardest to shoot down if you can never shoot him down?
-
Film. Or you lose the shot and lose the fight and see them shoot you down, or you get an assist later.
-
Saw Ink last night on top of a bunch of rooks making them frustrated because they could not get him, so I floated by watching and listening to the whines, got to about co-alt and thought I would slid over an pop him whilst he was distracted from below, I know not nice but I figured they had had enough, rolled in took my shot and missed like a 2 weeker, I knew what was comming next, the Ki84 hoopty do and off goes my wing.
I would say Ink/Jetsom should be on the list.

Leviathn for sure. Dude would sit on the deck for minutes on end in a Spit just making people overshoot all day. Haven't seen anything like that since... especially not with the same accuracy and sure-fire death. His hit % was up near 20 some tours.

My biggest problem isn't hitting recently. My flying always sacrificed position for that one killing shot, which I still hit but don't get a killing blow as much. Probably the damage model now vs pre-2005.
-
I agree Nath, I think the damage "bubble" back in the day made killing much, much easier. I know my stats from then to know bear that out as well, at least in terms of hit percentage and kills.
I agree about Leviathan, in fact the only reason I still fly the Spit5 is because of watching him back in the day, and trying to emulate that type of flying. You yourself flew a lot like that in the 190a5 when it first was around Nath, I can remember MANY times having you at my 12 at 1000 yards on the deck, and you pulling some crazy crap and killing me on the overshoot. I've got about a half dozen films of you doing it, and I tried for a long time to replicate it by just watching from your view and paying attention to the relative airspeeds and angles.

double post.

Yeah. Coming back it seems the 30mm has an even greater advantage than anything else with the new damage model. It's still pretty much one hit one kill, unless you only take off a horiz stab.
Back then we were always fighting on the deck, furballs were more common. You're probably thinking the 190A8, I never flew the A5 that much because I preferred the greater lethality.
Would love to see those films if you have. Do you still fly?

I might not hit ya, but I don't make it easy once your on my 6.

Absolutely. I haven't seen anything like that since either although there are definately standouts in that area. The guy always saw ya and seemed to always manuever for the overshoot and snapshot (which was usually accurate). Watching his films with views turned on you could see that he was looking back as much (or more depending on the fight) as looking front. Watching his films also got me out of the stratosphere and down in amongst em trying to emulate that style of fighting. I'm not on par with the really good dogfighter guys but I'm sure doing that improved my ability over what it was.
