I would love for it to go to night time in the MA. Not all the time but once in a wile for extended period of time. It almost got dark two weeks ago but there was still light and it only lasted about 10 min. I would love for it to get a full cycle of night.

-50 for the main arena... Its pointless.
Last time, everyone simply turned up their alpha's to make it day-light again...
If you really want night time, build a staged mission and run it in a custom arena, turn out the lights and have fun.
One other option is to wait for Santa to come on XMas, HiTech always turns out the lights as he gallabants across the arena...

It's not just a good point, it's what happened.
Years ago we did have night, and it lasted an hour or so. The problem was a lot of people just cranked up their gamma setting to be able to see like Crabby said, but more importantly, people logged off in droves.
HTC puts out a game that is suppose to be fun, and with people logging off in droves it certainly didn't look like they were having fun. So it was done away with except for the mentioned Christmas run. It has been asked for to be turned on many time since, but the answer has always been "no".

you can make your own night by adjusting the gamma on your settings then see who much fun it is.

I feel for you. Some terrains and night sky's are really purty. Unfortunately a lot of the game goes to the lowest common denominator which is late war as its got all the toys and the most action which means it gets the most action,(it's a circle.)
I don't know why so few people play this game but sadly unless there were good drones a night arena would be lonely.
The AVA arena is an example of something that is pretty nice but doesn't get too much air time.

I recall those days. I absolutely cranked up my gamma when "night" came. I absolutely
hated it. If you played without crankin' the gamma up, you couldn't see anything to
shoot at, and if you did turn the gamma way up, it presented such an awful
visual that it sucked most of the fun out of flyin'.

I have flown Snapshots where it was night and it was fun to a point. However, like these other folks said, one of two options.....low visibility or extreme gamma to brighten.
So I'm gonna have to say -1 for MA :cheers:

Bleh, I used to love seeing the night arena.
I was all 'wow' when they added the cockpit illumination from the muzzle flashes and the onboard lights. Too bad they didnt addd integral instrument lighting (but then again I dont know if WW2 birds had any).
I don't think I ever upped my gamma, in fact I remember hating those damn icons that cant be missed whether day or night. There was no way you could sneak up on anyone. Alas the action was slim in those hours (although of the few that did fly, many would hop into the actual night fighters of the game). I enjoyed it. Too bad most others didnt. :frown:

I flew a few snapshots with nighttime and it was absolutely outstanding... However the only way I would agree if they make it where night time comes you cannot turn your gamma up.

Been asked for about a trillion times. We did it before and those that were actually here can tell you that it sucked the life out of whatever arena it got dark in within five minutes. So---no.

WWII planes had cockpit lighting of a sort. Their instruments used radium dials. It made sense, after all, you were unlikely to live long enough for the radiation induced cancer to develop very far...

There was no way you could sneak up on anyone.
That, in a nutshell, is why 99.99999999999% of people that request night time want it. So they can "sneak up" on somebody without being seen and get free kills. Might as well wish for AFK drones all over the map. Might as well wish for your plane to be invisible to everyone, even though they're not to you.
Fact of the matter is in WW2 combat was a fair weather affair. They flew when it was sunny and clear, and didn't when it was otherwise. When you look at night time stories it's an entirely different kind of combat than what we see in-game or what 99% of all fighter pilots saw in WW2. Our equivelant of nighttime raids is akin to NOE milkrunning hordes of 50+ popping dar at the last second. You want night fighting? Hunt NOE hordes. It's not that far off, IMO.
There wasn't large scale dogfights and what most folks want "night time" for is just to sneak up and pick targets that don't fight back. If you ask me, that's what offline drones are for. No need to bring that into the arena.
