Probably my own fault but after some time away from playing I got back into it and did a new stick map in my CH Control Manager software. - I started to get regular sticking views recently, nearly always very noticeable when fighting! - and then quickly dying!
I had to think about this as I knew it was not a mechanical thing but a software issue. A quick look back in the stuck direction would unstick the view. In other words the game did not always pick up the key released signal from the Control Manager (I am still using V4.20).
Looking into it there is a value for repeat rates but not what you might think as character repeats per second, but 1000ths of a second between repeats. In other words a higher value is a slower repeat rate. I virtually doubled the value to slow the repeat rate and for the present the problem has gone - now using 100.
I would be interested to hear if other CH users have had similar issues and found the best solution for them. I also wonder if a higher performance PC may be less prone as it processes the game software with greater ease? - So if you have a problem, is your PC fairly old and basic? Mine has a AMDx2 6000+ processor (that's 2 cores running at 3000MHz) and 4Gigs of Ram with Windows XP - I still use FS Autostart to shut down resources and launch the game and get 60fps normally.

I had this problem also, a couple of times a night. You seem to have found a decent solution. I switched to TrackIR a few years back which also fixed the problem.

I don't use the CH software. I have always used the AH mapping setup as it is easy to use and can be adjusted/changed on the fly.... or while flying as it were.
I've never had an issue.
-
Adding that extra layer of software is not a very good solution when the game itself can read the controller directly.
-
FWIW, I had the same issue when I used the CH Manager software. When I mapped all of the controls directly through AH, the sticking views stopped.
-
I get this occasionally where I'll get multiple instances of stuck views in the same flight... after I land I exit aces and reopen it---- and it solves the issue for the remainder of the night.
-
Opending up the clipboard and closing it again will fix the sticky views. It's what I do to fix it when it happens to me.
ack-ack

Thanks for some interesting replies.
I reviewed the Aces High Mapping and decided that I can do all the things that way. It was not always the case especially in GV's. However I have been able to do everything including getting my side views over the cowl mapped. So the next thing will be to check how many incorrectly mapped buttons I have done! None spotted when setting it up but the acid test is in game when the buttons get pressed by second nature rather than thought!
So for the time being I am not using the CH Control manager.
One button I had mapped is not longer available to me but it was only used in buffs. I had position 1 (pilot) and F1 (Default internal view) on a single button for rapid return to the cockpit!

LOL it seems I tempted fate - I was getting a rogue view in some fights and found a button with an upward view that threw me! It also revealed that I was being a bit lazy using the hat the button was on by pressing it in error.
Certainly not a single instance of a stuck view - so I think using only the AH controls mapping from now on.
