Yes you heard it here I am going AMD on my next build. I was looking at this combo
MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876
Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103960
Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231589
That will go with my current vid cards case and power supply.
Any thoughts comments or concerns ??
FYI I have dual 570 gtx vid cards in SLI

If I remember correctly, you can't SLI/Crossfire if the Mobos don't match. What I mean to say is that an AMD mobo won't allow you to SLI your invidia cards. You will be limited to 1 gtx card. I could be completely wrong about this. You should look into it.
Also, Aces High will only utilize 1 core of your AMD CPU.
Don't go AMD.

That is not always true. It depends on the CPU. Not all of AMD's CPU's have the high resolution clock problem. Even within the same family it may or may not have the issue. It also seems to depend on the motherboard as well.
Basically, it is a crap shoot.
As far as I know, all the mobile CPU's have the problem, but it is due to the motherboard manufacturer specifically disabling that clock to save power.

Memory is a) overkill, b) at the upper voltage limit and c) requires a motherboard supporting XMP RAM profiles or manual tuning
Newegg has a lot of DDR3-1866 modules with standard voltages at ~100$

Well I did some scouring in reference to the sli problem. http://tomshardware.com/news/SLI-990FX-990X-970-chipset-9-series,12664.html
I guess you can sli on the new 900 series boards, that was one of the reasons for selecting the board.
As per the memory I was not looking at over clocking but if I do than it gives me the chance to.
I will eventually merge over to amd video cards.

AMD FX CPU are not limited by available memory bandwidth - they have other bottlenecks. Going faster than 1866 barely achieves anything and may even be slower if high mem speed requires higher timings/latencies. And using memory above standard voltage is always risky although AMD are a bit more voltage tolerant than Intel.

Heya LawnDart,
I roughly looked over your PC components you have picked, so far, and don't see any recognizable issues..... I myself have built numerous AMD based PC's verses Intel, so the one thing I can suggest right off the bat is your "COOLING"
I went from Antec 900 series cases , to the Antec 1200 ( TilDeath had donated one to a community build I did for an AH Community Member ), which I really liked the Antec 1200...... until I finally have settled with my beloved Thermaltake Level 10 GT series cases...... heck, I think everyone should use these level 10 GT cases ( they come pre drilled/punched knock outs for water cooling, if one desires that route....
I have always followed Skuzzy's advice regarding the "hit/miss" whether an AMD CPU will utilize just 1 or if it will use 2 cores.... this goes back nearly 8 years or so, but Aces High has advanced leaps and bounds regarding the AMD "1 core use" issues, in my opinion.....
btw.... our last phone call, I guess those Pocono mtns caused us to drop our connection, ROFL..... look forward to chattin at ya again soon.....
I'll take some time this evening and research/review your potential new AMD build, and see if I can find any inconsistencies for ya
cheers

Oh I dont think cooling is going to be a problem... I have one of these for my CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835214024
and 7 of these..http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835494004
They are all stuffed (cough cough) into a NZXT switch case..
The Cards I would get if I were to go all AMD or ATI would be
2 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161432

Well I bit the bullet and made a little purchase today...
MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284
Vid cards http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161432
Like I said, I went AMD and i went all the way.
I will also have 2 give aways when i get them so keep an eye out for them.

Be sure and let us know how well it performs, once you get it all together........
I think you will be extremely pleased with your AMD build, myself......
cheers

Just curious, why dual mid-range cards instead of one 7970?

7970s seem to fry themselves.
according to owners :(

I was helped out on overclockers.com on which vid card to get to get the most for my set-up. I am going triple monitor and I know it isnt necessary but in the future if I decide to go (bigger is beter) than I know I can add more monitors.

Will do TC and I will post the results from all the testing I will do also. Prime98 and other programs like that.

Two 7850s might be a bit faster than a 7970 for about the same price, but do you think they can handle more than 3 monitors?
Anyways, i can only dream about a system you just have built :aok

Ok for the guys asking I'm sorry but the parts I am replacing are already being dedicated for another person, he knows who he is. The parts are going to be for services on a job that I need done, so thanks for the offers but even before I install them they are gone to some one else.

I built an AMD pc a while back x6 1095t ,2x 7850(1g) cards 8g ram .It runs fine , i have had no problems that weren't caused by me :)
Am interested to see how you like your new pc
-
Heya LawnDart,
how is that build of your new AMD based PC going?
have been waiting to see some pics and test results, Sir
hope all is going well

LOL TC you wont believe this if I told ya... NewEgg dropped the ball and they kept telling me my card was denied... So after waiting the mandatory 30 days because NewEgg refused to fax my bank a release form.. I got my money back... I went to a local computer shop and ordered the same products and guess what I got them for 400 cheaper...dohhh why didn't i go that way the first time..
Well as soon as I get home and get the items swapped out I will post pics here..

Looks like the basement stores are beginning to find ways how to strike back after suffering from customer loss for the Internet markets. Our local music instrument dealers have told me the same: They now can sell for better prices than netshops. Not to mention the help and service before, during and after. :aok
