The map is driving customers away. Please fix.
-
I'm afraid follwing such claims would end up with having no map at all ;)
-
I agree with Lusche (although this map does have a legitimate fault with having overlaping towns on bases), this map is just big, wide, with lots of spread and water between bases.
But, I am curious, I think the map rotation timer (time-out/maximum-time-before-rotating) has been changed lately and extended (and the last two times this map has been up it has really shown as it always gets drawn out (really really drawn out, and day after day...)). Could HTCs verify it is working as intended, maybe, please?

Not according to my notes. The last time it was up for ~4 days. The time before that for ~7 (which is the maximum allowed by the timer), and the time before that not more than 5 days (and possible as little as 3 days)

Ahhh, I thought the timer was previously pegged at 4 or 5-days. The current (maybe always has been, i dunno) of 7 is very long in comparison.
IMHO, loging on to the same map at night, three nights consecutively, gets disheartening. If I were king for a day it would be 84-90 hours (even shorter than the shortest I though it ever was, but close). So if it's seven days (168 hours), then no wonder I'm gripeing (besides this current map being up for many days last week or the week before). I'm guessing their logic to 168 hours though is that you ensure the map sees the highest player load/population, giving them a chance to win the map.

It's the traditional max duration. For years we had the weekly manual reset by Skuzzy, IIRC on wednesday with he old Main Arena setup, and from 2007 on at 'Titanic' Tuesdays.

Unless you love a certain map, then it's great. ;)

We also had the two LWMA settup, so if one map was stale in LWOrange the mass could (and usualy would) move to LWBlue (especialy if blue changed to a more popular map).
I do have one favorite map right now, but more accuratley, I equaly dislike the rest.
What really gives me disdain though, on this subject, is how the small maps got rolled so fast with this most recent rotation, but you get to a big map and.... IDK... if those players just can't keep up, or give up because they are incabable of counting beyond 3, but I'd be ashamed if I could organize to roll a small map that easily, but can't roll the bigger ones in less than seven.
My favorite thing about the current map maybe its biggest flaw I think - TT. If the map isn't too big, then why do so many people congrigate there? If it isn't moving enough territory to rotate it within 7 days, why not remove the distraction and thereby freeing up the assets/players/resources it occupies. If not, and one of the best things about a map with over 200 square sectors is a piece of real estate in the center that barely occupies 2, what about the other 198 sectors?
Honestly, I don't want it gone like Trinity (which had a dozen problems nonconductive to MA gameplay), I'd just like to see how the map works if it could de-stack the towns off the bases.

Ya, i just want to play the game and have fun, this map aint fun really. If you want a fight you have to go to the middle of it, the rest of the map is dead. And the fight in the middle sucks on this map.

That's assuming a lot more 'real' organisation than actually happening in AH. There is no master strategy or master strategists in Aces High. Yes, plenty of players cry for more "organization" all the time, but the gameplay proves they are actually disliking it ;)
There a just a few grandmasters of hording, which have enough reputation to get a lot of joiners in their basegrab missions. But they need to be online, and the players have to be online in numbers as well.
And so there is a limited time window, during which such a base grabbin blob can exist before running out of steam. Mostly because it ends the country has no decisive numerical advantage anymore, players get bored or simply because the mission leader's bedtime is near.
Large maps simply have too many bases to be won in such a single hording fury. And that's why the frontlines go often back and forth all over the map, until one side finally gets lucky and can sustain offensive operations long enough for an actual map victory
EDIT:
I want to add that every time I did long time surveys about map uptimes, Trinity was the only one to reach the 7 day limit allmost all the time. The remaining three large maps only occasionally do.

But for me it is :old:
So I guess the "driving customers away" is not really based on anything but personal dislike? :devil
As a matter of fact, I could easily do without beta2, mesaview, smpizza and CraterMa. I think we could easily find other players with other maps they don't like for whatever reasons. I doubt there is a single map that all of us like ;)
By the way, there is only one map that had a distinct effect on player numbers when we still had the 2 arena setup: Beta2. That was the only map that succeeded in driving players from LWO to LWB every time it happened to be up in LWO.

You're right, it didn't include a pie chart or graph...

That's assuming a lot..... <snip>
Not to blow your post's context completely out of the water, but it's too good to pass up.... Have you flown with the Knights or seen our country chat lately? :devil
As you said, our ability to nationally organise is vastly below our nation's ability to conjure and speculate on excuses.

The only real problem with this map is the with the ease of NOE raids. Bish are notorious for them BUT ALL SIDES DO IT! <--- not that making that THAT big will stop the Bish cry-babies.
You spend most of your time waiting for a base to flash and then run over there HOPING to get there in time to fight a guy or two before they roll the base. Today we had a spy.... LOL!!! I know!!!! But this guy was running around and setting each of the CV waypoints to travel along each and every PT spawn point of a bish base. I road one and sure enough, as the ship got close you could spot a number of PT boats just waiting for it.... not running toward it or setting up a pass, but just sitting there waiting. Very Lame.
The NOEs get way out of hand on this map, and that leaves the "furball" at the center island. It hard to get anything going as many won't defend if they see only a few planes come in. Need that DAR HTC installed before with the big circles and no place to hide :devil

This is one of the very few things at which I have to say: The moment it comes back permanently, I'm outta here.

OK lets compromise, how about just for this map? :devil
