Just up tonight.  It looks fantastic, the CGI Dragon looked better than I expected it would well.  38 days and counting.

I still haven't seen all of season 2 yet.  We don't have HBO, I managed to get ahold of seasn 1 and the first 3 episodes of 2 from my niece, but that is all she had.

Read the books though, even the latest one...#5?  Once you start they are pretty impossible to put down.

HBO are soon going to find themselves poking RR Martin to hurry up and finish 6, 7 and however many books remain.  After 5 there is no end in sight at all though.  You have to wonder whether there actually IS an end.

I don't think there is an end Curval, I think he kind of writes a basic outline as he starts a new book and goes from there.  That said, I think he is getting sick of the grind and demand.

Rumor has it that Book 6 is going to be 1600 pages and may have to be split into two to help get it out in time for the show to be filmed.  The author has said the books take a year or two to write at 2 pages per day.

Once you read all the books, I recommend reading them all again. On my second and third read-throughs, I picked up on so much that I'd missed the first time through, when I was simply trying to keep track of everything.

Examples include:

- Jon Snow's true parentage (R+L=J)
- who Aegon really is

I am reading them again and totally agree.

Think you are right Bodhi.

I agree with you Jeff, there is a ton of stuff that you pick up the 2nd time around.

This series was a surprise for me as I never really get this interested in the genre.  The story writing is so good and so vast that it is very capable to suck you in and keep you interested for the entirety.  I am actually looking forward to new releases.

They are still the only fantasy books I've ever liked. I mostly read older, more general fiction... Hemingway, Kerouac, etc.

In response to your PM -- in 100% agreement, sir!  :salute

Yeah, I was thinking that through and it makes a ton of sense when you think about the context and residual information that you can find on it.  I won't say who I think it is and who we are talking about as I feel it makes for a huge spoiler to those that have not picked up on it.  Makes the end of the last book seem difficult now.

No matter how many times you're read through the books you'll always find new theories and tidbits in the forums there.  GRRM posts on occasion himself there, and it's his endorsed fan site for the books and HBO program.  If you're truly interested in the foreshadowing in the novels, check out some of the threads, many of them pinned, in the ASOIF forum header.
