Title: TrackIR software version 5.22 *WARNING*
Post by: Auger on February 26, 2013, 01:42:11 AM
I just upgraded to the latest version of the TrackIR software.  I highly suggest that you make a backup of your profiles.  The new version installed right over my "smooth" profile  :cry  That'll teach me to tweak default profiles and not rename them.

It looks like they added Win8 support.

Was that just a correction to the driver changes/requirements in win8?

They added a 64 bit driver.  Also, TrackIR has to run as admin now.

My win 7 rig is 64 bit I still use the 5.0 software. Upgrading my help it run fster if it never used 64 prior. but I'm nervous about side effects. By the way, sisnce I'm stupid, I don't know what "run s administator" really means, or whether that's a hassle. If you could explain, I'd appreciate it.  :salute

If you only have one account on your Windows 7 PC then you are already administrator.  I usually run as a non-admin account for security reasons.  If you run as non-admin it means you have to type in the administrators password when you start the new version of TrackIR.  I need to fly a bit more before I can say if the upgrade was worth it.
