before i screw things up, what is the best way to blow out a pc that is dusty, i heard that if you blow out the fans and they spin they act as an alternator and will fry your system? Utube vid would be great

Either hold the blade, or pin the blades down so they don't spin up. They can make power, and they can ruin the bearings if you let them spin up.

What Fugi said, plus if you use canned air, blow short bursts. A long blow will cause the contents of the can decrease rapidly, which will cool the air. Cool air doesn't want to leave the bottle.
Just like shooting an enemy: Short well aimed bursts can do more than spraying all rounds uncontrolled.

Yah found out the hard way about the fans years ago on my first computer. Best thing I have found to work is a q-tip. They small enough to slide in between the fan blades and easy to cut if they are to long. I use an air compressor with a basketball tip. It works pretty well if u keep the pressure low and not full blast. One thing I heard and dont know if its true but don't wipe it down with a rag cause of the static electricity. Maybe someone else might have heard differently but I don't take the chance.

Or you can get yourself a computer vac/blower. Was given one a couple of years ago and it works great, a hell of a lot better than I expected. Saves a little on not having to buy canned air to keep my machine clean.

Duct tape the fans down, take it out to the garage and take a leaf blower to it. :) Works for me.

Unplug the fans.

Wnnhen using this method don't forget to tie down the fan, otherwise the fan will fly away...
