I recently had to get a new controller, my other one bit the dust. I'm having issues with the throttle control - maybe someone has some input that my help correct the issue. When I start a flight, as long as the throttle is fully engaged i can take off, and fly no problem. Once I throttle back though, I am unable to speed up again unless i hit the WEP- when it cuts out, the throttle reverts back to low rpm's. If i land and try to rearm, I am not able to throttle fully ( without the WEP). I have the controller mapped to Throttle 1.
Any ideas? Yesterday I was in a dogfight and had the edge when the rpm's cut out. What a pain to try and maintain WEP while engaging. I eventually lost control and hit the water.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
DW

Sounds like you didnt calibrate the throttle axis. Calibrate the axis and see if that fixes the issue, plz report back if it does or not.

Do a thorough double calibration, make sure windows and Aces High are recognizing and have selected the current/new controller, and if it persists then I would suspect a defunct throttle in the new stick.
Calibrate it from windows before launching AH (control panel > Game Controllers), the key thing is to be sure you move your throttle during calibration from 0-100%. After launching AH and an arena, go to calibrate your joystick there as well in the games settings, and be sure to move your throttle.
Also, this isn't the proper support forum you're looking for, more/better help for your issue may be found there.

Keep in mind that RPM is a different control than the throttle. It sounds like you reduced RPMS which will then go to full speed when WEP is engaged.
Good call FLS! :aok I'm betting you hit the nail on the head,it hadnt occurred to me until I read your post.

Indeed FLS, very good call, it is possible he mistakenly assigned RPM to his slider instead of throttle.

If he did that he'd have a different result. He's adjusting the throttle without seeing the RPM change. RPM is not full speed. He can toggle WEP which mean throttle is at 100%. WEP sets RPM to full. That means he has the RPM reduced either with an analog assignment or by hitting the KP - key.

Thanks to all for your input. My problem still persists at this point. I did relibrate the stick in windows as well as AH, moving the slider from 0 to 100% and back sevral times. I do have it mapped to throttle and not rpm's. I notice that when I reduce the throttle in flight, if I gradually increase it to 3/4, it comes back slowly. If I go too fast, or all the way it cuts back. Maybe it is a glitch in the stick itself, as my old stick didn't respond this way. I'm going to keep at it for now - full throttle - crash & burn. Had fun last night and a nice kill.

Make sure you have not assigned 'damping' or 'deadband' to the throttle axis in the game. Select the throttle axis from the "Map Controllers" panel, then check the "Advanced" checkbox.
Make sure the "Damping" slider is at the bottom, and the "Deadband" as well.

I wonder too if you might have assigned a Max, Mid, Min, for the slider at the bottom of the setup list.

Can you adjust the RPM with the KP +/- keys?
Which aircraft are you flying?
What controller are you using?

Hey FLS,
Thanks for your reply. I cannot increase rpm's with the + or - keys. I just tried it with the Seafire, but I've also used other planes - 109G2, P51, Spit8 and noticed it. Damping and deadpan are at the bottom. I am using the Logitech Extreme 3DPRO. From a dead stop at take off, as I increase power - the engine will not power up in conjunction with the slider and will drop off to nothing. As I stated earlier, If I start a flight from hanger with the throttle already at full power, it does fine and will stay there until I try and reduce power.

Dew,
If you open the advanced section when you have the throttle selected, look at the raw and scaled windows, does the slider move all the way from top to bottom as you move the throttle slider?
When you go to map controls and look at the throttle axis,if you move the throttle all the way through it's movement do the numbers change from 0 to 635xxx?
The reason I'm asking is you ccan see how the stick is reacting and whether or not it is working properly. If it goes all the way through the numbers and the raw and scaled windows show complete movement then it should be good. However if the numbers wont hold or bounce around and the raw and scaled sliders bounce up and down then chances are it's a problem with the controller.
Hope that helps and let us know what if anything you find with what I said.

If you can't adjust RPM with keyboard controls you may have an analog axis mapped to RPM. You can also try to remap the keypad + and - keys to RPM if you don't have RPM assigned to a rotary or slider control on the stick.

FLS,
I checked into the things you were wondering about. The raw and scaled damping were okay - full movement and no jumping around. The throttle range went from 0 - 65535, with no jumping. The 0 was at the full throttle position and 65535 at the bottom, is that right or backwards? Regarding the +,- key mapping, I tried to map the keys to rpm increase and decrease in the flight mode and throttle up and down in global. Both to no avail.
Thx for your considerations.

Try renaming the games 'settings' folder and test it offline to see if the throttle is working. You might need to remap the "Throttle 1" command to the throttle again, but do that and nothing else.
See if it works. Just trying to get back to a level playing ground.

Did you check the stick rudder mapping?

Skuzzy,
I renamed the settings folder in AH from ("settings" to "Settings"), went off line Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????"2~ "2~ 276705826MltCpy2.10 FILL FILLed Sector; ST500DM002-9YN14 (CC4H) S1D5GMZY Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????Data Recovery Labs??????????????s for now and begin to look for a new stick. Thanks for all your assistance.

Skuzzy,
I renamed the settings folder in AH from ("settings" to "Settings"), went off line and it didn't seem to make much difference. I was in a P38, from a dead stop, at take off, as I increased the throttle, I could only bring it to 50% to get the rpm's to 25 and manifold pressure to 45. Anything beyond that would kick it back down. Same thing while in flight.
I had also checked the rudder mapping and it was okay.
If I start out with the throttle at 100% in the hanger, it's okay - full power and extra with WEP. Weird, I know.
Guess I'll just fly with it as is for now and begin to look for a new stick. Thanks for all your assistance.

When you calibrate in Windows, do you have full range of motion on the throttle axis?
ack-ack

Success ! I want to let you all know that my issue is corrected. Renaming the setting folder did work after all, once I changed the name completely. To change "settings" to "Settings" alone was not addequate. I do have a full range of throttle in a variety of planes, in flight and on the runway. That is going to make a big difference for me now. Look out Rooks & Bishops - LOL.
Thanks to everyone who helped.
