Aluminum Overcast II
This [MoM] mission will start a series of new MoMs for the
Rooks and the Bishops. If you dont know what MoM Missions
are, the goal of 'Missions-of-the-Month [MoM]' is to combine
the forces of multiple squadrons and unaffiliated pilots into an
organized, cooperative strike force of such momentous size that
they become legendary. They are designed to be noticed,
marveled at...and exciting for both the ROOKS and our
adversaries!

B-17 FLYING FORTRESS
The core of this battle is the B-17. The escorts could only
accompany the bombers a short distance into Germany
before having to turn back to refuel. This left the B-17's
alone to fend for themselves. To survive long enough to
return to the umbrella of fighter escort, we need as many
B-17's together in the air as possible so we'll need most pilots
flying in 'Forts.
We need a MAXIMUM EFFORT in B-17's!

I may actually be able to attend that. If I recall correctly, I'll be on vacation during that time. I sure hope we have a large map up for it. :x Personally, I am hoping that a Capital will be the target as well. :aok
-
What alt are you planning on flying at?
-
That will be told, on the day of the mission. :) But it will be high.
-
Missing the strategic missions and historical scenarios gets me fidgeting and wincing uncontrollably while I take my periodic breaks. I'm planning on returning at the first of April to take part in this. Depending on the participating teams, I'll either fly formation with the b-17s...or slash into them with a fw-190.

Is that greater than 25k?

Is that greater than 25k?
I hope it is and that they are going against Nitland :)

what if some of us dont have Ventrilo hmm ;)

Easy to get! www.ventrilo.com/download.php (http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php) :D
Sounds like just my sort of mission but unfortunately I don't think I could stay up long enough to participate. :bhead

Since it's alternating on only rooks and bish, chances are good... then again, "everyone knows us knits are full of experten buff killers", logicly they wouldn't risk their hides against the wulf den when they can choose the cherry orchard... :devil *polishes his focke-wulf*
-
hehehe, well I've run theses types of missions before, any enemies that go in the cloud, seem to leave in pieces. :devil But im very sure, this will be so much fun. Last time we filled up, over 50 bombers, and almost the same amount of fighter escorts. The map, on that day will determine the target. Ventrillo will be used for commanders of wings, to coordinate.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............P 47M's............................ .............
To escort, or to thwart mightly, that is the question..................... ............................. ...............
Love these "gatherings of friends", well done.

Always a great time by all.....good to see these coming back GrEric :aok

Good luck on this when most of your squads and players will be heading into SEA1 for FSO at 11 PM EST/10 PM CST.
-
I'll intercept... 110 or 410 with rockets :D

Could be done by then, maybe they will have time to go to the FSO at that time.

As an experienced mission planner with 8th AF Missions, at 8:30 PM EST launch will require at least an hour to for bombers to climb to altitude. You're at 9:30 EST. Because not every player has discipline to listen to instructions, read text messages and individuals going AFK, you'll need another 30 minutes to form up and get into combat spread and now it's 10:00 EST. This all takes place in friendly territory and you need time to approach enemy target area that requires another 30 minutes or so and time is 10:30 PM EST.
30 minutes until start of FSO.
Now it's a one way mission for the majority of your players to at least bomb or shoot, then head off to FSO. They will bail to report to their assigned squad's FSO duties before Fields Open.
I'm not discouraging you just letting you know what will happen. I would want to fly B-17s for that mission. But as a member of a FSO squad, my first responsibility would be to bail out of the buffs at 10:45 PM EST so I can get over to SEA 1 for FSO regardless if I dropped bombs or not during the MoM.
Any Friday night mission of that magnitude would be best done on the 4th or 5th Friday night of that month to get the maximum participation without the hindrance of time constraints due to FSO.
Best of luck in your mission.

Thanks for your input, since I'm giving such a high notice moving it one day shouldn't be a problem.

Your most welcome.
I do want your mission to succeed. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Friday nights are hard for massive missions like that at that time frame. Saturday nights are more condusive for that level of participation. Most people can stay up later also.

What day are you planning to move this mission to?
-
i think he's changing countries too as he is no longer a rook lol
-
Its moved to the 6th, everything is still going as planned. :) Since im doing both Rook and Bishop MoM I need to talk to bishop squads about the next one, these missions need to be planned out early due to their size. :salute
-
Due to the forums being down for so long, I had no time to inform others. It will be rescheduled, till a later time. :salute

+100 planes in one sector at a time... sounds like a great way to wreak my frame rate... :noid Pass...

Shame, should upgrade, these events stand on their own level of insanity, particularly when the mission finally encounters well organised resistance. :devil

OMG OMG OMG!!!
So let me get this straight. Y'all are going to up a bunch of fat shiny toys and randomly invite Butcher Bird experten to chew them to shreds? Well, you had me at 'fat chick!'
I'm in!
Boo
Fw-190A5, cause it matters...
PS I actually prefer killing escorts, buffs are just too easy. Just say'n
