Ultimate question. Do you cook your hamburger helper to be soupy or thick sauce?
I prefer thick sauce to get the most flavor in each bite.

I don't eat that stuff at all.. Process foods are not good for ya, too much salt and chemicals.. :bolt:
As a whole, I think people are growing sickly and weak, because of the crap they are feedin ya..
With Horsemeat popping up in process food everywhere, has anyone tested the mystery meat in the Ravioli?

I thought that stuff was made from road kill and homeless folks... :headscratch:

It's noodles, "sauce" and salt. You could do worse. I like the stroganoff now and then for a quick skillet meal and I make it thick.

Gibberish!
Everyone knows my mental capacities have not been affected by processed food. :old:
Ravioli from Aldi is awesome but being German we have to be careful that it does contain big fat German sausage. :old:

It is just as easy to cook some egg noodles while frying some sliced steak. Add some sour cream and a bit of hot sauce and for a thick sauce 50-50 butter to flour mix (rue). Just as quick, but much better flavor.
-
Thick sauce, no watery stuff.
-
I miss the original Italian flavor.

No it isn't or Hamburger Helper would go out of business. It's also more expensive to do it from scratch. Hamburger Helper .99 cents. Sour cream .99 cents, noodles, .99 cents, flour & butter .99 cents... It costs 3 times as much to make from scratch.
Hamburger Helper is just a cheap filler with flavoring. Keyword: cheap.

Nothing wrong with horsemeat, better for you than steak and has free roids which saves money when working out :aok
People are growing sickly and weak because they spend all day in their houses hiding from the government with tin foil headgear, not because they eat meat, whatever its derivation :D

Horsemeat is actually quite good. I eat it regularly :D
(Where I live, you actually by horsemeat which is actually horsemeat)

You won't catch me shopping there, a proper grocery store bags the customer's groceries and then follows them out to their car to load it. When I was in Germany I was astounded by the lack of work being done by their employees.

Germany has not been the same since the Berlin wall came down and they started using the Euro :old:
They get paid to much as well for doing a job that can be done in China better and cheaper :old:
We make excellent Big Macs in the UK :rofl

No, it's made of (horse) eyes, they can't spell due to an ongoing overdose of 'roids. As a side note, horseradish is actually a badly articulated misspell of horse-(ste)roids. :noid

How come aHorseradish is a condiment and a horse apple is a lump of crap?
why do you go Hoarse?
also you get taken away in a Horse, well nearly :headscratch:
its a damn conspiracy :old:

The local IGA still does this, but they are the only one. I worked there back in the late 80's and enjoyed the tips.

But that $3 will make 5-6 boxes worth of "helper" since they contains only @ 3 oz of noodles each.
Homemade is about 2x cheaper than boxed.

Guess that's why Betty Crocker went out of business. :headscratch:

logic such as rpm is displaying in this thread is why poor people tend to remain poor

Horse Apple as they are known in Texas, also called Bois d arc Apple or Osage Orange..
Yes basically a lump of crap.

Logic as in simple math? You are just assuming the scratch made is cheaper because you are buying a bag of noodles making a bigger batch. It doesn't play out that way per serving. You forgot about tripling the cost of the other ingredients to make that batch.
Is the scratch made healthier? Probably (although stroganoff isn't a healthy dish to start with) and I'm sure it tastes better, too. But it's not cheaper and it takes longer to prepare. That's the whole point of the product. Cheap, quick and only 1 sklilet.
-
hamburger helper = cheap, quick, 1 skillet method for preparing something for the doggies.
There are a lot of things I would go without before I'd feed that stuff to my family. 'Bout the only thing worse would be to take them to McDonalds. :old:

For a while I lived on the $1 box of creamy tuna helper from save a lot. 1 box = 1 meal.
Stuff was delish

Yea, tuna helper FTW. Use at least 3 cans of tuna though, and add half a bag of frozen peas when the timer is down to 4 min remaining.

Zack do you make cheeseburgers too or just pies ?

Sometimes we make homemade "Stroganoff".. We call it, SOS gravy on egg noodles..
All you military guys will remember that stuff, right?.. It is cheaper to cook a bit more,
and freeze it in portions for later use, saves money and time in the long run..
We do this with a bunch of different dishes, alternate as we choose..
Made from scratch, great stuff, comfort food on a cold dark winter evening..
But the Corporate box full of preservative noodles, and metallic packet of Zyklon/B?
Gives me indigestion from hell, and leaves me sitting on the crapper all day, every time!
We have been able to quit using meds for stomach problems, since we
stopped eating that process food crap.. Problems just vanished, amazing!
Big sign right there..
It does store well tho.. :lol
-
I don't know why they call it hamburger helper, it just does fine by it's self. Cousin Eddy.
