Our sound tests are progressing and we appreciate the feedback we have received so far. We have a new FMOD test version that we need more help testing. This version has different drivers, a different sound resource file, and fixes a microphone bug. Please note that custom sounds will not work with this test version. This is a bit bigger of a download than before. Also note that you can't take the Ki-43 and He 111 online in this version.
Original post with new download link:
In our previous sound system change, we ran into some roadblocks that eventually kept us from implementing a sound event system that allows us more detailed sounds. We're once again looking into moving to a new sound system (FMOD) and need some help with low level testing across multiple platforms. We have a test version that will install in your existing Aces High folder. It should run just the same as your regular Aces High. There are no new sounds or effects in this, this is just to check that everything still works and nothing crashes. There is a small installer download that will install 4 files into your Aces High folder. If you want it will also create a shortcut on your desktop(ahfmod.exe). Run this shortcut instead of your usual Aces High icon to launch the test version. If you have a problem with the test version you can simply go back to launching the game as you normally do.
Here is the link to the download. Please report in this thread if the test version runs normally for you of if you encountered a problem. Thanks for your help.

still getting micro freezes while transmitting vox.
NOT
-
I had no issues running the new sounds, everything went fine for me. However, I had a squadmate say that my squad vox transmissions were arriving to him repeatedly, and also out of order. Evidently the "packets" were scrambled? He said I would say something, break vox (go silent), then speak again and the new sound would be what I had already said once but then whatever I was saying new was garbled over top of it. Make sense? Mind you, this is qbert I'm talking about. He may have forgotten to take his meds this morning. ;)
Otherwise, I saw or heard no difference in performance. :)

installed, will test tomorrow :salute

Tried to use but my squad mates said everything I said was repeated. I couldn't hear it but they could. Also had a lot of small freezes. Had to quit using after 10 min.

same thing except it kept getting repeated about what I said on the first transmission for the rest of the flight. for example I said on vox "i killed dazycutter" I tuned to myself about 4 minutes later and it kept repeating the same phrase before begining a new transmission.

According to my squad mates I had the same repetition issue.

I would like to test this beta but, When I start the beta:
No Active Speakers Are Found.....
In the 2.29p5 Miles sound, my Plantronics 780 is sourced visa the windows speaker configuration, sound mapper and primary sound driver. If I set anything to reference Plantronics, when I press the VOX keys the game hangs. Sometimes recovering, sometimes erroring to the desktop. Also I have to disable the Dolby emulation.

I had the same issue bustr did, so I went back to the regular .exe
-
When in the game all sounds appear to function properly except that I hear a constant tick (clipping?) in the background every second and a half or so.

Tried last night 4/3 and had to quit because of squad mates complaints over repeats and also freezes and one lockup. Could only use for about 10 min.

does this new sound system have doppler effect?
