Title: Soviet Lend Lease Aircraft
Post by: aztec on April 04, 2013, 09:10:22 AM
I've been trying to find a complete list of Lend Lease aircraft but haven't had much luck.

I have found Spitfires were used but can find nothing on which variant's and it's pretty much the same across the board.

I've also found one source claiming Lancaster's were used but can't find corroboration.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it, thank you and <S>!  aztec

I do not have any sources to point you towards (others will chime in soon, I'm sure), but the Spit 5 was the most numerous version to be given to the Soviets, iirc.  Lancasters I no clue on, but I doubt it.  B25's and A20/Bostons were given in large numbers too.

USA planes: P-39, P-40, B-25, A-20 (Boston) all in large #s.

British planes: Hurricanes mainly, with some Spitfires...usually Spit Vs.

Lancasters? no, not in combat with the VVS.

...there were a lot more but many did not see much service. The above ones are the most numerous.
