I like decorating my garage with old airplane parts. Today I bought a few sections of WWII era C-47 engine cowling. (Okay, the words “a few” are a substitute for the number 19... But, I can’t help it if that is the way the seller wanted to get rid of them.)

In keeping with the airplane theme I have in the garage, my plan is to have my artistically talented daughter paint some WWII style nose art on at least two of the cowlings and then hang them on the wall. I am also thinking about hanging the oil-cooler cowling from the rafters with a clock mounted in the opening… Just a thought.

Put a bottom in the oil cooler scoop and make it a table side ice cooler for holding extra cans/bottles of beer.

I’ve got room in the garage to hang two of the full size cowlings. I would like to have one of them painted with an original nose art, something personal. I want the second one to be a historic piece. Since this cowl is from a big radial engine, I think that artwork from a P-47 would look good on it. Any other ideas?
