Title: Disco'd
Post by: Goat1 on April 13, 2013, 10:18:10 AM
Can someone tell me what causes a disco to happen?
I've been disco'd before in the MA and never thought much about it, just part of the game.
But last night a disco'd during a very enjoyable FSO. So are discos caused mostly on my end or
on the Aces High side?

Thanks;
Goat

Many times, if not most of the time they are cause by any of the dozends of instances the packets are passing through between your computer and the AH server.

Discos are almost always due to something interfering with the successful reception of packets over the Internet.  The causes for that are very numerous.

The very nature of a disco is the game not getting updates, or not being able to send updates.

Anti-xxxx software probably runs a close second as causing discos.

You can test your own connection using Ping Plotter (www.pingplotter.com).  They have a free version of their utility at the bottom of their downloads page.  Use 206.16.60.38 for the IP address to run a ping plot to.
