Some fascinating video coming out of this war. Everybody has a camera it seems. You tube has hundreds of combat videos.
RngFndr, the FSA is not Al Qaeda . There are a lot factions on the rebel side probably including AQ and a lot of them are being supported by the west including the US and other Arab countries with money, equipment and weapons.
It's a nasty little war though.

Yup, lots of war crimes going on over there and alot of them are documented.... I support Assad, don't like him, but most of syria was stable for a long time while he was in power... the FSA, especially those groups that are linking up with AQ will never be able to stablize the country, they are all religous schizo's.... Allah awakbr! This is a war of religous ideals, between two factions of Islam... very sad indeed.

That's a shame, liveleak plays some videos that YouTube doesn't allow (sometimes for stupid reasons), it's a nice alternative. If you have a smart phone, watch it on that. The AH-64 video is probably one of the most intense/insane combat footage I've seen.

If your worried about virus and spyware, the last place you want them is on your smartphone. That little box now holds a lot of information about who we are & what we do. many use the phone to internet bank, access company documents and store personal data.

Smartphones and Tabs are becoming much bigger targets everyday. There have already been viruses and spyware reported on these.

There's plenty of graphic vids from syria on youtube.... and I mean graphic.... just type FSA headshot... or massacre in syria.... what I have noticed is the folks around a victim who has been injured immediately start chanting allahu akbar and tossing him this way and that while he's bleeding out and could possibly be saved... just crazy delusional religious attitudes towards existence.

Don't mistake the same phrase when some one says it in a different situation. It's not exactly the same as saying "Good God!" In English but its very similar when presented with a scary/profound situation. A couple of religious nuts ruin it for a lot of good Muslims unfortunately.

Ok .. I laughed when I saw the cameraman *behind* the bazooka ..filming that.
Wonder if he has any eyebrows left?
And yes .. great example of why tanks suck at city fighting without infantry support.

Better yet smartphones are an instant cash cow. Android has dozens of in the wild exploits which start placing SMS messages to premium priced SMS services and/or making silent calls to toll numbers hosted by the criminals. Which is why I would never use an Android phone without a prepaid connection. That way you lose 20 bucks at most if your phone gets pwned.

There's something wrong with the description of this being a tank "shell" being fired.
I think we're seing the firing of a Gun-Launched Anti-Tank missle...probably an AT-8 Songster (Soviet 9K112 Kobra).
I've seen too many main gun rounds being fired from tanks during my 31 years of military service as a U.S. Tank Crewman to believe that this is a standard main gun round being fired.
Here are the reasons I think so:
1. There is very little muzzle flash at the instant of firing...too little to be a high pressure main gun round. However, there is a very large ammount of gray smoke as one would expect to see from the booster motor of an ATGM.
2. The round has a large bore diameter that is too large for a SABOT round, but about right for a HEAT or HEP round.
3. The range is very short but the time of flight is too long...this is a VERY slow round. Too slow for a SABOT, HEAT, or HEP round.
4. The ammount of ballistic drop is extreme for a round fired from so close. This is however typical of the 3-5 degrees of additional elevation above the line of sight required for the missile guidance system to acquire the IR flare burning at the tail of the missile (clearly visible in the slow motion) which is used to correct the flight path, and guide the warhead to the target.
5. The terminal effects are much less than I would have expected from a HEAT or HEP round fired at close range...I don't think the warhead had enough time or distance to properly arm prior to the impact.
