Title: Graphic Problem
Post by: loony1 on April 17, 2013, 02:35:53 PM
I constantly get this when I bring up my clipboard. Mostly happens if I bring up my clipboard and someone keys up on vox. It's very annoying. I can get it to go away if I bring my clipboard up and put it away a few time.(http://i1318.photobucket.com/albums/t642/gcraft368/ahss0_zps6ddb4f84.png) (http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/gcraft368/media/ahss0_zps6ddb4f84.png.html)

Big squares do not a plane make!

It could be a resource issue. Run a Dxdiag and post the first third of it here to help people work out what might be wrong. Also, what Texture size are you using? (start the game, click video setting and in the middle of that window it should say)

This is normal for me. It has to do with the Vid card from what im told.

loony1, ya that looks like a resource issue. You only have a duo core processor and an intel video chip. The processor works hard to run both Win8 AND the game. On top of that an intel video chip isn't made to run 3d graphics. What texture setting are you running at?

I'm Running at 1024 and I do have the hires installed

Looks like an advantage to me in that you can see any plane or GV no matter how far or hidden.

Definately try to fix it or you might receive hatemail from vanquished opponents.

Your frame rates must be pretty low. Dropping the texture size down may clear it up. I'm surprised you can fly with the hires running.

:lol The squares actualy make it hard to see the Planes to shoot at them. It's distracting. Glad its not like that all the time. My FR run at about 48 most of the time accept when in a large furball or at a base that has lots of stuff burning and smoking. Then it drops to like 18. :joystick:

try 1024 without hi res i would think if not go to 512

I tried changing to 512...no difference. Not sure how to turn off the hires pack. One thing I noticed is that it only puts a box around planes that are manned...bomber drones stay normal.

Drop to 256 and try that. Once you drop to 512 or below it shuts off the hirez.

The Intel chip just isn't made for 3D graphics. Thats why when you get into a lot of traffic, or around a base with a lot of smoke your frame rate drops. Your graphics card is have trouble drawing AND loading the frames. You get boxes as planes because the card decides those are a lower priority and so doesn't draw them all the way.

Yes it looks like you have only 64 megs of dedicated vidram so you will need to run either 256 or 512 texture size. As Fugi says the hirez is automatically shut off if you run less than a 1024 texture size.

I would get a video card. You don't have to spend much......less than 60 dollars. If you get a low end nVidia card you would not have to upgrade your power supply. I am assuming you have a PCI Express slot available on your motherboard.

Here is a link for an inexpensive video card.......and it will run with a power supply in the 300-350 watt range or better.

If you are not comfortable installing a video card, get a friend to show you. It is not complicated.
Just make sure you uninstall the intel video drivers before the installation. You should be able to run the hi res packet. That intel video chip will heat up, and as already mentioned, it was not designed to run 3d video games.

Good luck.

I did not realize it is a laptop. Don't waste your time looking for upgrades.

Good luck.  :salute
