Title: PSA
Post by: Slade on April 18, 2013, 04:30:37 PM
In case you thought otherwise...

No one in this game to my knowledge goes out of their way to NOT give a check 6.  Most here are good folks in that way.  That is if they see it - they call it.  If they don't see it...they don't.  It IS that simple.

It is ultimately your responsibility for your own SA (Situational Awareness).  :old:

Carry on.  :salute

I know at times the comms can be delayed by as much as 5 seconds or so.. Was flying on a busy Friday night when I gave a check6 to a fella and those precious few seconds made just about worthless. I know it was delayed because my wingman and I have a ventrillo server for comms which we use apart from the in game radio. His response to my call was a negative one because he was blown up a mere second or less after getting it because of the delay. I responded in kind by waiving the usual surcharge for such calls. I guess my point is the radio is not flawless, and when the server is very busy these calls can be delayed a little. Just saying..

I concur Slade.  Further when vox is getting bogged down make sure you have your check 6 button set for quick and easy use.  I use it more than verbal warnings as a verbal can and will be too late at times.

I love yelling "check six" on range just to watch 15 guys in a furball scatter for no reason. I also like to yell "watch out xxxxx" whithout giving "xxxxx" any idea of the approach vector of the bad guy. I have been known to yell "Check 12" to a squaddie, just before I finish off that determined anti-squaddie HO and killshoot myself.

I also feel that I have to point out that these are learned behaviours.

Thank you for your kind words, mr. Slade.

Thanks also for the reminder that the one not giving me a chk6 might not be a bad person, just incapable to understand my true situation for one reason or another. Like having a strategic negotiation with wife ack over his shoulder or something like that.  :salute

I've seen voice delays of over six seconds, my best guess for delay when using the button is up to two seconds.  That is speculation and likely heavily affected by ISP/router.

People who complain about not getting a check six, especially in the middle of a large furball where you should perpetually be in "check six" mode anyway are self-centered, lack SA and gay.  Or maybe they're straight because they don't enjoy getting it from back there.  Either way, it's moot because it'll be legal everywhere soon.

90% of people on are good at giving checks despite the fact that giving checks depends on excess time and SA.  You could whine, but remember this: expecting anyone to love you more than you is setting you up for failure  :bolt:

I think it funny when i explode, and im in the tower, and then hear the check 6. Got to love that lag. Situational awareness is your friend.
