I think thated be a cool feature pay vehicle perks to take them out of ports or enable them at pt spawns.

Seeing as how only 1 other person can join you, and don't see the effectiveness of this. If it happens i will be a happy stuka pilot :D

It would be amazing to increase naval ability in the game to coincide with improvements in Air and ground combat. :aok

Now i do believe that if we were to introduce destroyers this would be a good start, that is if we wanna include a destroyer torpedoes. Which in my opinion is a destroyers main arsenal along with its speed and maneuverability. Now if I'm correct the destroyers we have escorting our carrier currently is a Fletcher class no? They should have a total of 10 torp tubes non of which are usable in game. The akizuki class has only 4, perfect to eliminate torp spamming but good basis to experiment. Its arsenal is mainly focused on its advanced artillery. It has 8 3.9 inch cannons with a extreme high rate of fire. the turrets can drop -10 to a full 90 degree angle. So even Though it may not have the range or power of the 5 inch, its rate of fire along side with its degree angle of elevation makes it a superb threat to aircraft and a even match for any destroyer. SO! a good choice to start off with if you ask me :rock

I myself have posted a request for this.My suggestion was a Destroyer Escort.One person can join you would be fine.Would like to see a gun directors position and slave the 2 5 inchers.Someone joins you and mans the AA with a option to slave all the aa guns together or fire them individualy.Also id like to see the torps made usable.

Destroyers and cruisers did not operate independently. They operated as a group. That being the case, you can take charge of a task force, you can man guns.

Akizuki would be formidable! According to the Combined Fleet website (http://www.combinedfleet.com/akizuk_c.htm), they were armed to the *teeth*:
4 x turrets, each with 2 x 3.9"/65 (dual purpose AA and AP)
up to 51 x 25mm AA (!!!)
4 x 24" torpedo tubes (with reloads)
72 x depth charges (only relevant when HTC adds submarines)

:airplane: Unless I misunderstand his wish, what he is talking about is selecting a deystroyer in the hangar and spawning out of a port just like a PT boat. Think it would add to the game and be cool to use for port defense.

That's the request I'm seeing, as well. If port defense is the issue, why not request more shore batteries? Solo cruisers and destroyers for such isn't realistic ... well, imo ... even a gaggle of independently operated ones isn't (insta-uber-fleet?)

:airplane: I just think it would be more things to do in AH! Find and destroy destroyers which had spawned out of a port before capture of port, or have destroyers which spawned from port RTB to try to regain port after capture! Also gives us something else to bomb or attack with other ships! Just think it would add more Naval atmosphere to game.

instead of controlling fleet i like to see a position for fire control , which has advanced optics etc... and communicate more accurate range readings to 8inc and 5' gunners

For the US, the brains were first provided by the Mark 1A Fire Control Computer which was an electro-mechanical analog ballistic computer that provided accurate firing solutions which could automatically control one or more gun mounts against stationary, or moving targets on the surface or in the air. I'd like to see something like this added, but also see some issues in terms of play balance. If/when subs are added, something like this would seem to be a necessity. While tincans were indeed operationally grouped into flotillas or squadrons, they did often operate independently on the tactical level. So I think they should be spawn-able from either a fleet or a port, like PTs are. I think there would have to be some sort of limit on the number that could be spawned from a given fleet/port, and within a given time period; simply perking the heck out of them would not be enough to prevent abuse, IMO. Part of the problem of course is in the nature of how it's treated by the code. If it is treated like a single-ship fleet, we can't directly control the helm (speed and direction) as we can with the PT boat. This makes deploying torpedoes from it very difficult at best. If, on the other hand, it is treated in the code like a big PT boat, we get direct control, but don't get auto-ack, and are limited to only one other person gunning with us. I'd prefer the latter choice, if we're assuming we have to live with the current limitations in the code.
On a side note, along with torps, I'd want the option to make smoke, since this was a vital defensive ability of the tincans in surface actions.

And when not in use at a port would be docked and able to be bombed and be down for 15 minutes like a hanger.

+1 for thought given on how to limit their use whilst providing another tactical target at ports... As for cruisers.... Limit of one due to the numerous gun positions that can be occupied... (would this mean more than one gunner/observer?)

Id say no but id like for the ships captain and gunner to be able to both occupy a separate gun at once for alittle more fun.

Japanese DD in my opinion, but not the Akizuki super DD, too few of them made!
Something more like Kagero, that had many sisters in the class..
But for the sake of expediency and appearances, just use the Fletchers we have
in the game now.. Or the old twin turret DDs that used to be in game..
Look kinda dorky to have IJN destroyers covering American LVTs..
Overall tho.. I think this should be part of a whole Naval Overhaul..
Including Separate invasion fleets, and LCTs to land tanks on the shore!
Would be cool, if the BB had a "Navy Department" to advance these issues..

We can only hope adding them tho would definitely change a lot of battle plans in the main arena and who knows maybe hitech can then add its the best ww2 sea battles as well lol.

I wouldn't mind taking the Graf Spee or Bismark for a spin, or a uboat.
If controlled by only one player, like upping a plane, maybe it would aim from the tower, then click 1,2,3,4 etc to fire each turret, with. A light to say when each is reloaded.
Have them cost a lot of perks, what about if suddenly have to log? A cruise could take hours, and have to be fair to the guys hunting it too. If it wasn't player owned like a normal plane, then pass it to another player? Assuming the player would still lose perks so they don't get spy abused somehow. Maybe have player rank with each country.
