Title: How many years behind is HTC?
Post by: Torquila on April 26, 2013, 08:16:29 AM
A long standing game needs a graphical/engine re-work every 4 years or so to keep in touch with the latest trends and standards.

We have had only two revisions so far, and the third should of been here a good few years ago.

HTC seemingly has dropped the ball in this regard, can we expect something new soon?

Just guessing one of the following~

a. New eye candy would cull out a number of present players with older systems, like me.

b. HTC with limited programmers priorize other areas...plane updates, etc.

c. Most players are fine with what we have now.

If you REALLY want an answer to your question, call 817.431.8840...ask for Dale.  :D

a. AH can be run on an ati 9700, even with some basic eye candy on - thats a 2002 video card. An about 50$ hd-4670 or a 8800gt actually handles this game quite well - only the shadows and the reflections need more, but much more GPU power.

b. exactly what you said.

c. true, but its sad, if you think about it. The new planes are beautiful, the flight modelling is great, but i personally didnt like the landscape. This could be esily improved, just look at USRanger's works, what a difference that is. Using his textures in the MA wouldnt slow down the game too much - at least i think so. True, the terrain files would be much larger, for sure.

It would be nice if the current AcesHigh engine was more efficient.

I once played Aces High without any Graphics (for many years) my laptop simply sucked. Once I got my new computer last year, I was simply amazed how nice the game is.

Go play farmville or something if you are not happy with Aces High.

Since you're pretty much discussing this for the masses to sympathize or not .... buh bye? We don't code for HTC.  :D

I really don't care how good or how bad a game looks. If it's fun then I like it, and OH BOY is AHII fun!

I'd rather have HTC focus on making this game even more fun than making it look good. Though if they can make it look even better while making it more fun, then that certainly wouldn't hurt  ;) . As a certain gaming company has shown *COUGH* EA *COUGH*, if you focus on making the game look as nice as possible and just ignore everything else... no one is going to like it and no one is going to buy it. Except maybe the die-hard fanboys.

I dont see anything wrong with Aces High... Ive been away for almost 3 years and just started back last weekend. I tell you, I havent found a game like this anywhere! If you are unhappy with the way everything is, find another game to play.  :ahand

I prefer the view of aces high over the bizarre golden aura of the new games.

First your post is completely inaccurate, It is difficult for me to count the number of graphical pipeline revisions we have done.

2nd Your post is an obvious troll.
