Since Im Canadain, And mostly you Are prob from a Different Country Prob mostly United states, You might Not know about Canada's role In The wars and our Armed Military, But we had a Pretty Big Role In World war 1, and world war 2,...Here is a Fact Canada Entered World war 2 In 1939, Before american's had any role in a Armed Conflicted, No offense to your People, I highly Respect you armed Forces as well,..But people In fact ,talk about Canadains Like we didnt do anything In the war....Another fact,On 9th August 1942 troops of the Canadian 2nd Division formed the bulk of the Dieppe Raid. Of the 5,000 Canadians who took part, only about 2,000 returned to England. Our Country was also at d-day, We had Navy of 400 Vessels, And over 2000 Saliors died....
n February 1945 the Canadian First Army attacked in the Reichswald Forest, and helped drive the Germans back across the Rhine, the German forces surrendered to General Montgomery on Luneburg Heath on 5th May 1945. From D-Day to VE Day 12,500 Canadians died.
A major task of the Royal Canadian Air Force based at home was the hunting of U-Boats in the North Atlantic, its most important area of operations was Europe, where 48 Canadian squadrons served. The scale of their contribution was recognized on 1st January 1943 by the formation of No. 6 Group, an RCAF formation within Bomber Command. Canadian airmen fought in the Battle of Britain, North Africa, Italy and the Normandy invasion. About 17,000 died, the great majority while serving with Bomber Command.Thousands Died while Piloting, the Lancaster, And the air crews.Approximately 44,198 Canadians were killed in WWII, We Helped Make Lancasters, and spitfires!,in canada.
In fact, i work at a Mueseam, With a Lancaster, And other bombers,Like the mossy and Soon coming a Halifax bomber,When i give People the tour, Mostly everybody Is kinda shocked at our losses in war, For such a small Population...This makes me Kinda mad, EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT AMERICANS ROLE,..And then they know toejam about My Country,...Not to all..., im shure some of you do know this,....I think Canada's Need to get more respect, about out Armed Forces in passed, Or present :old: :old:

Everyone is aware of the input of the Canadians :old:
The Americans obviously talk about their input because they are Americans and not Canadian :)
The Allies won because they were superior on all aspects of warfare from the most important "Economics" and a Technological aspect "The Atom Bomb".
If the Nazis were any good they would have won end of.
No "Myths" please its getting boring :old:
Churchill was awesome :salute
And so was Bernard Law Montgomery who had the honour of showing the Axis who were the better army :salute
Fact!

thedoom26,
Many of us know of, and appreciate, the Canadian's contributions to Allied victory.
I requested 418 'City of Edmonton' Squadron skins for the Mosquito Mk VI and Boston Mk III for a reason, and those are the skins I use in game for those aircraft.
<S> RCAF and Canada.

Canada is awesome! During WWII they allowed us homeless Norwegians to build "Little Norway" in Canada; a training base for our pilots.

Here's a negative example that shows that your generalizations about Americans are in fact generalizations: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,304631.msg3916867.html#msg3916867
During 2001, my game of choice was Everquest. I was in a guild called The Silent Sentinels on Luclin server that was about 40% composed of Canadians, many of them knew each other IRL and lived around Vancouver, but there were many from other places as well. When the attacks of 9-11 happened, the Americans playing the game were too stunned to do anything. Many people logged in out of habit or comfort, and then just chatted with their online friends about what happened. But it was the Canadians on the server that organized in-game candle light vigils and memorial events for those players who died in the attacks, we Americans were too shocked to do it for ourselves. That's something I'll never forget, they were absolutely on our side. To this day I'm pissed when an American president calls Britain our closest ally, as GWB often did.
IMO its your own country that doesn't like to talk about its contribution in any war. You're very non-war-like. Perhaps because you want to distinguish yourself from Americans; don't want to risk being mistaken as American while traveling overseas. When a Canadian made the longest ever sniper rifle kill in Afghanistan a few years ago, I absolutely couldn't find anything about it on the web sites of Canadian newspapers. It wasn't covered, as if it would be embarrassing to talk about Canada's military might.
And finally, one factor might be the Pearl Harbor factor. American soil was attacked (also Alaska). I'm unaware of Canada having suffered the same.

Vimy Ridge during WW1 was more than just a platoon of Canadians getting wiped out. In fact, the Vimy Ridge memorial is dedicated to Canada specifically from the King of Great Britain and is HUGE, over 250 acres. It was the first time where all the Canadian Divisions were allowed to operate together as one corps, and not just a part of a greater UK Corps. The attack was planned by a Canadian General, and was successful, employing walking artillery barrages in front of advancing infantry.
The German lines were pressed, then finally broken, and the allies were given their rupture in the lines, and exploited it, and began to take the fight to Germany from that point on. The Canadian General was Knighted by the King on the battlefield for his work.
You will find that most Canadians now a days under the age of say 30 don't even know what Vimy is, where it is, or what it represents. The older generations do however, and understand that it was "the" moment where our nation was forged in fire, and first stood on its own, separate from its parent.
This is(was at least) completely true IMO. Not only were the two shooters, Aaron Perry and Rob Furlong denied much deserved publicity, they were ordered by the Canadian government at the time, which was far from military friendly, to refuse the Bronze and Silver stars the USA attempted to award them. Later at least, when Bush decided to give the entire PPCLI infantry battalion the Presidential Unit Citation for their actions that week, they were allowed to pin that one on. Ridiculous or what?
This sentiment has slowly been changing over the last ten years or so, just a little, as Canadians became more accustomed to having to deal with our soliders killing and being killed in a real life war, not just watching the USA on CNN having to take care of business. A surprising number of Canadians have come out in support of our guys, and coverage is much more common now than it was back during 2002 when we first deployed into Afghanistan with the Rakasan guys.
Boilerdown, you EQ story reminds me of when 9/11 happened, and the airspace was closed down. I used to work as an air traffic controller in Gander Newfoundland back in the early 90's, my first real job that I started when I was 19. That small town has a runway and small airport, and when the air traffic was all suspended, all the enroute traffic on the routes inbound had to put down immediately, so dozens of heavies filled with passengers landed in little Gander. With only a couple small motels, few restaurants, and even less infrastructure, the towns people came together and opened their homes to all the travelers stranded for days, mostly Americans. There is a yearly anniversary where thousands still come back to thank the Canadians that helped them out during their most horrifying hours. 6600 people, as I said mostly Americans were taken care of for almost a week by only 8500 towns people, and only 6000 of those adults. Operation Yellow Ribbon it was called, you can read more about it online, and I know one CBS anchorman made a film about it, as he was one of the 6600.

Who are these 'people' who are doing all this talking?
Anyone paying any attention to history knows of the Canadians role in both World Wars. I wouldn't worry about those who have no clue. Lots of people fall into that category when it comes to history.

Canada has our back. I hope you think the USA has yours. Sorry for the misunderstanding. We thought you knew.

The first Four Canadians Killed Afghanistan was from a Laser guided Bomb From an American (im pretty shure f-18) Plane, They thought it was the Taliban, But Actually it was A Canadian Training Operation, My Fellow Cousin was Present at the time, He was not Injured..You Americans Kill Everything you see shooting, Just maybe make shure before you drop a bomb, make shure you know your not Bombing your Allies,..ALSO im not Dissing You in any way, for Example, The Longest Kill shot From a Sniper was Canadian, From a McMillan Tac-50 (C15) Long Range Sniper Weapon , Using Canadian Ammo,.which He Ran out of the Canadian made .50 caliber rounds, Trying to hit the taliban but they fell short...After A Marine Gave this Sniper American Made .50 caliber rounds for his tac-10...He was able to get the Longest Kill shot In history, Thanks to the American rounds, Not going to lie, You have the Best, Ammo, Best firepower, Best Weapons,...With out Americans, We would be ....f@$KED, So i salute you guys! and you should Give the Canadians one back, And Remember back On 9/11, September attacks On your Country, Well Some Canadains were in the towers on that tragic day, And died, I give your Country the Biggest Respect, And if us, two country's ever went to war....I will be hiding in my Basement :devil Because you guys, are to stong for us, So let us be friends

If that is the incident I am thinking of, "they" didn't think it was the Taliban, "they" didn't know who it was, the pilot engaged after being told not to because he was eager for action and he thought it was Taliban. I agree it was pathetic and the USAF's handling of it afterwords was disgraceful. You have my apologies as an American.

I live 20 minutes from Windsor, Ontario. The contributions of the Canadians has been well documented. The wife and I are usually in Windsor/Toronto about 5-6 times a year. I also just had a meet up with Baitman. He flew in in and I ended up picking him up at the airport and we ate at Slows in Detroit. I drove him to his hotel and caught up until almost midnight about Geology of all things.

Where are you getting this information? I didn't know Rub Furlong that well, he's with Edmonton City Police now, no longer with the PPCLI, but Aaran Perry and I are good friends, and worked together in the same company after he left the Forces as well. Aaron was the record holder for longest shot for about 30 seconds, until Rob, the other sniper working the mountainside shot a guy 50 meters further than the target Aaron shot, who was manning a heavy MG on the back of a Taliban truck. Neither of them ever mentioned anything to me about using "American" magic ammunition. In fact, the company I worked for before working for a private military company used to supply a lot of things to the Canadian Forces, since we were one of only a handful of companies in the country with destructive device construction permits, as they relate to military weapons. I can put you on the phone in about five seconds with the person who sold the CF Sniper units their 50 caliber ammunition - 750 grain AMAX rounds to be exact - from 2002 onwards to about 2011 or so, as he works for the division of said company that does military and law enforcement sales.
Also, as any precision rifle shooter, much less a trained sniper, would know - you can't just plunk in any old "new ammunition" into your rifle, and expect to be able to hit anything, much less targets at 2000+ meters. You need to be zero'd with specific ammunition with the same velocity and projectile weight, as well as the projectile having the exact same composition and aerodynamic shape and properties. The odds of the "American ammo" in your story being the same velocity, grain/weight, and bullet shape/profile, as the so called "Canadian manufactured" ammunition, is very unlikely, unless it was the same exact ammo from the same manufacturer. The optics on the CF rifles wouldn't have been zero'd for this "new" ammo, and at extreme ranges like they were shooting, different ammo would have been detrimental, as opposed to saving the day. Hell, Canadian Forces snipers are trained to even roll the round on the flat ground several times prior to slowly loading it into the magazine or chamber, in order for the powder/propellant to be evenly dispersed throughout the cartridge casing, in order to ensure the burn rate and hence velocity of their shots fired....it's THAT precise. Just for interest sake, who is this "Canadian Manufacturer" of 50 caliber ammunition, as I've never heard of a company here that makes precision 50 cal rifle ammo to begin with.
Also, your story is that the Canadian ammo "wasn't reaching" the targets, yet the American ammo did? That's crazy talk, even 709gr M2 Ball .50 call ammo will reach the ranges that the targets were at, it's a question of the precision they have once they arrive that is the question. Stating that just shows you're ignorant about sniping, and shooting in general.
When you start making things like this up to support your story or position, you are crapping on the work that guys have done in the field for their comrades and their country.
Also, it was an F16 that dropped the 2 LGB's on the CF troops, and it was a mistake, everyone knows it, and they happen. Nobody I've talked to who was there was happy about it, and a co-worker of mine lost his eye in that incident btw, but I think everyone realizes mistakes happen. The USAF has more than atoned for that error by supporting Canadian and other coalition troops thousands upon thousands of times, saving god only knows how many lives while doing so. Bringing up the blue on blue incident the way you have is on par with making up stories about the sniping events, and should earn you a ban for all eternity from the internet IMO, but what can you do.

Maybe if Canada actually had more than 70 fighter aircraft that were usable for ground support you wouldn't have to rely on us. Friendly fire happens, and it sucks. Do you think anyone is happy about it? Anyway, it is not like any internet tough-guy speech you give on here, a gaming forum is going to have any effect upon the situation. If you are so pissed about the representation and the respect given to your armed forces why don't you join up? None of us owe you anything.
