There's an old Chevy Impala down the street from where I live. Its in a vacant lot behind an old house that seems to be vacant as well. I asked a few people from over there and they don't know who it belongs to, why its there, how it got there, and more importantly, how long its been there. Its just been rusting away and looks like it's in bad shape. I wish I could take it and fix it up to factory standards and drive it around.
Here's a pic.

Yeah, it needs to be just a few years older. Well maybe 4, 5 or 6. :)

Paint it black and
you can pretend to be dean or Sam

Speaking of old Chevy's, I ran across this in the news:

Ditto
I had a 2 door 1970 impala with the best engine ever made. Imo the 5.7 350 :aok (didn't say most powerful, most reliable and most customized)

I was thinking more like ten.

And yes it has to many doors.

Well... I will say that these cars have more potential than most give them at first glance.
I had a buddy back in high school come across one similar (can't remember the year) and seeing as he was interested in going into car restoration/fabrication, he made it a project and it came out pretty cool. Still looked a little off because of the 4 doors, but all in all it was a pretty sweet ride. Obviously, if you're paying someone to restore something like this it's a complete waste of money unless it has some sentimental value.

That's a 1969.
Seems you're getting out and doing some exploring.............good stuff.
-
A guys I went to school with had a 4 door 72 chevelle done quite nicely. Pretty cool for a four door.
Now, if you want a sexy four door... A black 1967 Ford Continential screams it.

At first I thought it was a '73, but indeed it is a '69. So it's only about 6 years to new.

I thought it was gonna have HUGE rims on it lol. Nice find!

I'd like to see one of those Ford Continentals. Is that like a Chevy Coupe deVille?

I went around town some more and found what looks like an '87 Toyota Supra and an old BMW. I'll have pics up later.

I learned how to drive in one of those.......dad's being a 1968 with suicide doors and a 462 engine.
Later got a 1969 SS 427 caprice of which possibly only one was made as it was special ordered by Mr. Luby of Luby chevrolet as his personal loaner for the year.
It had assembly line stickers woven into the seat springs for F41 suspension, SS package and other stuff.
Should have kept it.

When I was a kid my mom had a '65 Lincoln Continental with the suicide doors and 462. The back seat was larger than most economy cars entire interiors.
It was a cool car, but not really what you wanted to be driving during the oil embargo in '73.

Better IMO.

You could fit a Honda in the trunk in case you broke down. :lol

What about the CJ sitting next to it? Far better choice. :)

that Impala is worth more in weight, then putting it on the road.

LoL
He still didn't get it, Nef. ;)

I personally don't care how much it's worth. I'd just like to have it restored and drive it around because its not something commonly seen on the streets.
When was the last time you saw a '68 Impala going down the road?

Sorry.... Lincoln Continental. No excuse for my oversight.

Back in the late 80's I kept driving by ugly green 66 4 door Impala with a for sale sign sitting on the side of the road. After driving by it about 20 times over the next few days, I decided to stop and look at it. It was in fairly decent shape, still ran, but the air conditioner didn't work, and down here in Texas that is a must. I contacted the owner and he wanted $700.00, which back then was probably a good deal. I knew I would have to put some money into it, so I offered him $400.00 and to my surprise he took the offer.
The car ran, but the front end was loose, and like I said the air conditioner didn't work, so I took it down to my local shop and had both fixed. This car turned out to be my daily driver until I was involved in an accident where a Ford Escort crossed the center line and hit me head on. It was not a high speed accident, but I was sure glad I was in that tank. I loved that car, it had manual brakes and steering, and at the end I was running 8 anti fouler on the plugs. The car never let me down. It was too damaged to fix, because parts were hard to find, so the insurance ended up totaling it.
I have had new cars before and after, but I really think that was my favorite.
If you like it and have the ability to restore it, then my vote is to go for it. The car is talking to you and I learned a long time ago, if you start putting a price on everything you want to do, you probably won't do anything.

A wreck a few days ago with an older model "tank". The driver had to be extricated and flown to a trauma center. The people she hit walked away uninjured.
Old cars are cool, but don't overestimate steel for technology in a wreck.

Low speed accidents, the older cars won't sustain as much/any damage, but high speed accidents I'd definitely rather be in something modern.

My buddys custom shop i work @ has 2 of em in his shop right now. Both were in way worse condition than that one but now they are looking very nice. well except for the 26" wheels and lift on one. The other is all black with 24" wheels but no lift. Actually doesnt look that bad.

Late model F150.
Late model F150 in anything other than base trim is around 5700 pounds with the harley davidson model being over 6000 pounds.......which is more than a base model F250.
The dodge in that picture weighs from 2850 pounds for the slant six model to around 3100 for a higher trim V8 model.
Sure, the dodge lacks many of the features that make cars safe now but this is a bad comparison.
