most players (US) tend to move left to right and top to bottom. this wind pattern would push them mostly right to left and down to up in a subtle way so it is much more realistic with this pattern but still balanced in spite of its more uniform change in direction and speed.
Ive flown offline with this for a while while checking my Main arena terrain as I work on it and like it much better than the current hard angle huge shift changes in the current MA settings of wind.
a little tiny bit of wind down low dosnt hurt anything either and makes it more believable that it actually is wind when it gradually changes from the ground up.

I tend to agree with the general idea.
However, wind at 0 level in not so good. For vet players it will mean nothing, but just makes it harder on new players, both in takeoffs and landings. The first layer can start at 2 or 3 kft, or generally a little higher than the typical alt of bases in the map.
The second problem that I see with this is that the wind arrows on the map will be unreadable with that many layers. Perhaps a separate "meteorology" page can display the wind better.

new players don't land and such little wind does not hurt autotakeoff.
see my other wish about how the wind icon display needs updating to make all 15 layers visible.

I'm sorry I really dont get this :headscratch:
... but slightly varying wind speed/direction at increasing alts as the table above it is an excellent idea, big +1 from me :aok
edit: rookies wont really notice the difference, vets will appreciate the variety. how does this effect bomber calibration?

I like it. Does wind affect bullet trajectory? If it does, I like it even more.

how does this effect bomber calibration?
It does not unless you change your altitude after calibration. Such a layer structure would mean that if you calibrate and then change altitude between layers, there will be a small drift of the impact point relative to the crosshair. Not very large if you only move to the next layer since the variation is very gradual both in speed and direction (i.e. both the head-wind and side-wind components change, but moderately so).

+10 !! I think it is a great idea! With the wind pattern you suggest, it looks like a high pressure system center. I don't know how that would effect the B-29, because of the large vertical stabilizer and rudder. It would tend to "weather vane" more than the other bombers. But since the programmer has compensated for wind with the other bomb sights, shouldn't be to much problem. One of the things that would help the "newbees" and retain more customers for Hi Tech would be to require the new pilots to spend 1 hour with a instructor pilot in the training arena before entering the game.
Some people get discouraged because they can't land after their mission, so they just move onto another game. I am not saying you can train a complete new pilot to land in an hour, but you can give him enough fundamentals so that he can see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. (And yes, I would be willing to donate time to new pilots for this purpose).
